The Amazing Race finale

I love that the final destination was in Juneau instead of one of the big cities in the lower 48. I was there in '99 and did some kayaking; I'd love to go back and do the rest of the challenges on this leg! (I've done the flour bomb drop, years ago, but that was here in Ithaca.) It was particularly nice that this outcome wasn't decided by a taxi driver getting lost, as so often happens in the finales.
Had Travis been doing all the early roadblocks, so that Nicole was required to do these last ones?
Interesting about that contract with the 60/40 split for Tim and Marie. I wonder if TPTB knew about that during the casting process?

I was just glad that the pink haired team didn't win. I was interested in the flour drop test. Fun that you got to do that. I wanted to go to Alaska for my 25th this year on a cruise but we spent 2 weeks in Hawai'i instead.

Very satisfied with the results. Jason and Amy were one of the few teams that really played positively and ethically. I thought the leg in Japan was very well put together for challenging tasks, but Alaska seemed rather haphazard
It did my heart good, to see Tim and Marie (Pinky and No-Brain) screwed by taxi issues at the airport, when they got the last cab, I thought "Karma". I hope Travis was watching last night's show from his trailer, after Nicole sent him out the door for his behaviour to her on the race. What a piece of nasty he turned out to be.

I don't think there's a need for further spoilers...
I agree with you regarding Travis and Nicole. They were one of my favorite teams until Travis started criticizing Nicole for every failure with a Road Block. I was happy to see Jason and Amy win and was even happier to see that Tim and Marie not win. That 60/40 split was interesting - it might even have been part of the "hook" for them to get cast for the show.
I noticed that when they were talking about the trips they won they said they were going to put them into a hat and draw them out - I always assumed that each one won a trip for two separately, but apparently that's not the case.

I have wondered about this. Do couples who want to go on the trip together just get one while teams who are not in a romantic relationship each get their own?

Nope it's one trip per team. Unless Phil says "you have EACH son a ......"

The winning team is edited to make them the likeable and wanted victors. If the doctors or Pinky had won they would have been portrayed differently. The end result was no surprise and was given away early with the stolen cab and all the comments about coming in second so many times.
Speaking of Pinky, she and Tim are rumored to be back for all stars next season. Others said to be in the cast:
Brenchel
The Cowboys
Twinnies

Haven't Margie and Luke played twice already? I'm surprised they couldn't land Romber...

Yes, they have, as have the Cowboys and the Globetrotters.
I guess they are desperate for one of their pet teams to finally win a race

I assume the Cowboys are Jet and Cord McCoy? If so, IIRC, they were likeable and watchable, as were the Globetrotters. One serving of Margie and Luke would have been too much, let alone a third. If these three teams couldn't finish their business during the "Unfinished Business" season, I'd rather not see them again.
One team I wouldn't feel so strongly against seeing again would be the sisters from Utah. They got a bum deal on that challenge where they unrolled a few hundred rolls of hay.

Since they edit the winners to appear more appealing, I started wondering how bad Flo (Zach's partner) was in Season 3. I found this quote at
http://www.funny115.com/blog/troublingmoments.htm
Flo Sidenote #2: Here's another great insider story, although this one will have to be anonymous. One of the cast members from Amazing Race #4 (the one after Flo) once told me that we actually saw a watered down version of Flo on TV. She was actually much worse in real life, and they actually did soften her for purposes of the show. My source told me that the AR camera crew all hated Flo with a passion, and none of them were willing to be stuck in a car with her all day because all she did was complain. So what they'd do is always assign the "rookie crew" to Flo's car, just because none of the veterans were willing to deal with her. So there you go.

Some issue came up with Bopper, so Mallory was partnered with Mark at the last minute.
