Book Signing

We went to the Yorba Linda Library for the last stop on Ken's book tour last night.
We brought our own copy of Ken's latest book, Ken Jennings's Trivia Almanac. Ken graciously autographed it for Maddie: "To an undefeated Jeopardy champ, Madeline, from a defeated one." (Maddie requested the former part of the inscription, while Ken suggested the latter part.)
When we got in the line to have the book signed, we asked Emma if she wanted her own copy of the book, but she said no. After going through the line and talking with some of our friends, Emma decided that she wanted her own copy of the book, so we bought another copy and stood in line again. Ken was nice enough to autograph Emma's book "to a future Jeopardy champion."
There was a trivia competion and we won another copy of the book, which we donated to Emma's school library. (The librarian was sitting next to me.) The library has a Birthday Book Club and parents can donate a book in honor of their child, and the child's picture and the book go up on the Birthday Book Wall. In Emma's case, the librarian will be posting a picture of Emma, Ken and Ken's book, since Ken posed for a picture for the Birthday Book wall.

That sounds like a lovely night.

The librarian got really mad at me.

Did you get a felt tip pen and modify the cover as instructed on page 533?

We just added your name because we know you.

Ken talked about how he really didn't like the extra "s" after the possessive apostrophe on his name on the front cover of the book. (Ken Jennings's). He wanted it to be Ken Jennings', but was informed that according to the Chicago Manual of style only one person is allowed to omit the final "s" on their name to show possession.
That person is
Jesus. Though why my gardener gets this special perk I will never know.

Huh, I agree with Ken Jennings on something. I refuse to add an extra S to my possessions, it's just wasteful and could be put to better use elsewhere.

What a sweet guy!
He could write a book about the odd requests people made of him.
One guy asked him to sign some baseballs.
One woman asked him to pose giving high fives.
He said that his next book will be on game show erotica, though I presume that he was just joking.

One guy asked him to sign some baseballs.
Actually, I met a fellow who specializes in celebrity-signed baseballs. That's all he has them sign, be it a football star or movie star. He even has some signed by baseball players.

To the Golden Library in honor of Emma Suchard's birthday.
Right after he autographed it, our librarian took it from me. She is going to make it a reference book so that nobody can check it out for a while.
