"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."

RIP to one of the great world leaders of our time.

They played a clip of one of Mr. Mandela's speeches on the radio, and I was impressed all over again with how well Morgan Freeman copied his accent in Invictus.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller

Amen

I didn't understand the significance of Sprots' new avatar at first, but now I do. Very appropriate.

The world has changed a lot since the 1980s, when MTV used to play this video. RIP Nelson Mandela.

A truly remarkable man, to endure all that he did and, once he had the opporunity, to seek only peace and unity instead of revenge and payback.

Everyone has probably seen news reports of the memorial service at the stadium, yesterday, but I found this flashmob performance just as moving.

Incidentally, the video quality seemed too good (with too many camera angles) for a typical flashmob, so I researched it a bit. I found this press release from Woolworths, which explains that this was a previously planned performance that was transformed in response to Mandela's death. An inspired transformation, it was!
