Cars. We love cars.

We spent the afternoon buying Pat a "new" used car at Carmax. The Camry he's been driving (SC will attest to this via hearsay) has pretty much bitten the dust. It's a 95, was Greg's when he went to school, then got passed to Pat when Greg got his "new" used car for his 21st. Last year we told Pat we'd get him a "new" used car for his 21st and he said, "That's okay. I can wait."
Bless him.
The Camry has serious issues that don't warrant throwing money into it.

So, today we got him a 2001 Nissan Maxima with leather interior, extended warranty and several miles on it. But, it's way nicer than anything we currently have. So, that's good! He was very appreciative.

It took four hours to complete the transaction due to test driving the other cars and realizing the one we saw on line had probably been in a flood.

We are now monetarily more in debt, but he has a good, serviceable vehicle.

Do we love cars as much as we love shoes?

I'm just asking.

I hate cars. They're an evil necessity. Seriously, they depress me. A means to an end unfortunately. Too expensive, a pain in the ass to maintain, guzzle gas and I'd just rather beam myself up or sideways to someplace.

Yay for Pat!

May he use it in good health.

I don't know if this is true and I always think this is a "Jewish" thing to say, as it is what my first m-i-l always said about anything new. All of her children said it as well and all of her friends - who all happened to be Jewish.

Anyone know if it is?

I've heard it forever. I think it's just a nice thing to say.

I'm glad you found a good reliable car and hopefully not too bad a price.
Pat sounds like a good son from the reports I've had in the past and including this one.

This is just one more hurdle in getting them through college and on their way to self sufficient citizens. It will be here before you know it.
