I've found two typos so far: "you're father" and "refriger-ator".
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I've got a question about Kindle editions of books. Who actually does the "typesetting" for those? Since I've gotten my Kindle, I've read a number of books there and there seem to be some oddball typos of just this sort that I can't believe an editor wouldn't catch, if not the author himself. They seem to me to be more a function of how the text was transferred into Kindle "form." It's a conversion program (Calibre) that changes any input file (typically .html files) into .mobi files, which are compatible with Kindles. The publisher (in this case) made the conversion and looked for obvious issues, like spacing errors or improper bolding/italics (which can go on for pages) and the overall "look" of the document. When she was done she sent to me for a final look (because this pub is small and relies on authors for some eyeballing) and I gave it a look over. Sorry, folks, I missed a few. I know "refriger-ator" was introduced by software. The other likely wasn't.

I made no critique of the book pro or con but I am biased by the first one and am sure I will love the second as well. I am waiting for my signed copy of Centerpoint. For those of you who don't understand quilting you may not fully get this but when a friend shows me her recently finished project I don't mention where the points don't match up or if her hand quilting is uneven. I point out how much I love her choice of color or the cleverness of the pattern she chose.

Christie, I agree. Especially considering how many typos I've seen in Nook books that come from huge publishers or are classics that have been around forever. It's the conversion to ebook mostly.

I reread this and thought about the 'her or she' part that made me misinterpret your comment. You were not saying that I made a critique. I have no idea what y'all are talking about, but my comments were directed to the fact that if I published a book after countless years of hard work and dedication, and the first feedback I got from someone about that book was that he noticed a couple nitpicky typos in the book, I'd probably punch that fucker right in the nose. Looking for and correcting typos is for the editing process, which I'd assume since the book is now live was some time ago. Vandal is a much better man than I am to put up with such a tactless comment from a tactless person.....

Folks, let's please take a step back and breathe.
My thinking is: if you buy the book you can say anything you want about it. If someone says in a review that he found typos in the text and that took away from his enjoyment of the book, that's a perfectly valid statement. Some readers may find plot holes, implausible circumstances, paper-thin characters, too much swearing, not enough swearing, bad ending, etc.
If you are inclined to leave a review on Amazon, B&N or Goodreads, that would be greatly appreciated. Good or bad, it matters not to me (although the director of promos may put it to good use).
