Some weekends are just glorious - good weather, good company, lots of time to relax and refresh for the next week.
This past weekend was not one of those.
On Friday (my compressed day) we waited around almost the entire day for a repair person to come out. Our oven is not working and with Thanksgiving just around the corner we needed it fixed. elwing tried her hand at it - she went online and checked the error message being displayed and tried the fix that was recommended, without success. So we called for a repair person, and was told to expect him or her between noon and 5 PM. The repair person finally showed up around 5:30 and after doing exactly what elwing had done, told us that the control keypad was kaput. No, there wasn't one on the truck, so we would have to order one, then call for the repair person to come out and install it.
Saturday started out promisingly but a slip on a wet floor (my clumsiness) sent us to a "doc in the box" to have it examined. It was only a wrenched knee and it's almost all right now, but there were more hours wasted. Plus we lost in trivia by one point.
Sunday was the scary day. elwing and I were in our Bible study class, in the basement of our church building. Because of the nature of the building (and/or our carrier), we don't get cell service down there. So when we came upstairs our phones registered a text message from our oldest son. Our younger granddaughter had spiked a temperature and had a seizure, and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The doctor diagnosed her with strep (she had been asymptomatic) which caused the sudden rise in temperature. He prescribed amoxicillin and sent her home.
Oh, and today I'm dealing with the aftermath of an upgrade to the contracting system databases that we use - I'm running "measures of success testing" on seven databases to confirm that the upgrades were successful. Fortunately it appears that all went well.

So the severe weather didn't bother you there?
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.
