#1 Post by Bob78164 » Thu Nov 14, 2013 11:23 am

Retroactive good luck today to long-time BB jarnon. Take 'em for all they've got! --Bob

Let's support Jon and his chosen charity. You can donate a few shillings to this cause here:

This doesn't really give away any gameplay, but
Spoiler
Jarnon will be donating a portion of his winnings to the aforementioned Barbara Bush charity. Barbara Bush appeared on the show via a phone cameo today talking to Cedric and the contestant, when she heard about Jarnon appearing on the show.

I won't be watching this show. Blame Obama.

I will tape tomorrow in hopes that it will play here since it was pre-empted here as well.

I saw the show this morning and I was impressed. I also think literacy is very important. I tutor at an elementary school, helping kindergartners practice their reading skills. The school disctrict has lots of kids who live in lower income households, and most of them qualify for free and/or reduced lunch programs. Many need a little extra "push" to help them succeed academically and prepare for college (which around here is a big deal, since we've got The Kalamazoo Promise)
I'm just a game show nerd.

Damn. Thursday is my day to write the transcripts, but the show got preempted by the press conference here, too. And WSYR doesn't air preempted episodes at a different time, AFAIK. :(

I hope another member of the BBTranscriptTeam can cover this episode.

Spoiler
Jarnon AKA Jon Arnon makes it to round two with $43,100 and no lifelines remaining. He passes on the $100K question and leaves with $43,100.

There are 34210933 channels devoted entirely to news, and 3420934094833 more websites devoted to same.... and yet the regular networks STILL have to drop everything and show stupid fucking Presidential speeches and other such "breaking news"? When are people going to stop putting up with their shows getting pre-empted for bullshit better suited for other media sources?

Note: WWTBAM doesn't even air in my area anymore, this was just a rant based on the replies in this thread....

I think the big three networks, and maybe Fox as well these days, kind of feel obligated to show Obama pep talks. I've seen news stories that CBS would cut into TPIR for, but ABC didn't cut into the View for. I take issue with the latter. But some things have to be cut into regular programming for, Obama pep talks included, whether we like it or not. Golden-road.net has people complaining when Price gets cuts into for special reports. I remember Philly stations cutting into game shows for coverage of Phillies/Flyers/ Sixers/Eagles related events.

Thanks, kusch.

Game Show Kingdom has a transcript of the show. It's factual and colorful, but not the same as a Bored transcript. My son's friend is burning some DVDs of my show. If any BB Transcript Team member would like a DVD, please send me a PM.

We did get the show here in Boston Area. The 1st few minutes were still under preempt, though, so that call to Mrs. Bush was underway already. Kind of a "what the?" moment, as the intro to the call was preempted. I had assumed the preempt was to do with the Whitey Bulger verdict; now I know better.
