Hes playing for healthcorps, an organization that takes college grads and puts them in with high school kids, serving as big brothers and sisters and getting them excited about life and their health. The organization touches about 35,000 lives each year. He has $62,600 in his bank and his ask the audience lifeline available.

All of these criminals were famous, but I thought Jack made the most logical choice. So, okay, Lizzie killed her parents in some obscure town in Massachusetts, but then she was under arrest, right? That's material for some curiosity, but it doesn't compare to the ongoing horror of the first (?) infamous serial killer of history, loose in one of the largest cities of the world (ergo, one of the largest newspaper markets).

You all missed the big clue -- headlineS (plural). The Ripper was never caught and killed multiple victims over a period of years. Hence more editions, over a period of years, not days or weeks.

I'm pretty sure they mean a million copies of just one issue. Many other papers would have sold over a million copies in a period of years.

It was a period of months, not years. The five canonical murders were August to November, 1888. The only other remotely likely victim was killed earlier that August.

I do agree with you about the plural headlines and editions, though.

100K Q: I'd probably not have seen this unless I really got an overwhelming response on my previous ATA use & trusted them. I was leaning heavily toward Ripper, but I think I would have chickened out & gone home here. A few years ago, I would have gone for it. Life has made me a chicken, now.

By the way, folks, Fall River is not far from Boston (around 70 miles, actually), which is where the mega-copies of papers about Lizzie Borden would have sold.

500K Q: No idea. I thought Dr. Oz was actually going for it with the silly "reasoned it through" that Whisper White was "too wimpy" a color & with Dove White dismissed out-of-hand. I guess his wife picks out all the paint colors in *their* home, or he'd know that the adjectives in color names rarely have anything to do with the color on the paint-chip. Having said this, I think anyway that the actual White House looks more like Marble White to me, so that is my preference, but I would not have gone for it.

Instead, he gave us that lecture about how as a surgeon he has to know the diff between being brash & being justified in his decision, & wisely went home on this one.
