Woman Sues American Airlines for X-Rated Incident
Lawsuit: Staff Did Not Help Woman After Man Ejaculated On Her

HOUSTON -- A 21-year-old Harris County woman filed a lawsuit against American Airlines Monday, alleging her trip to visit family and friends in Los Angeles last spring break turned X-rated.

The $200,000 suit claims a passenger masturbated in the seat next to Centava Dozier on a flight from DFW International Airport to Los Angeles during Dozier's spring break in 2007.
Dozier said she was sitting on an unoccupied row of the plane when it took off and fell asleep. When she woke up, she found a stuck substance in her hair and a man masturbating in the seat next to her.

In the lawsuit, Dozier said she asked airline workers for help and asked that the man, who was not sitting in his assigned seat, be removed, but did not receive any help from the staff aboard the plane.

Officials with American Airlines have maintained that their employees took appropriate action.

The man was arrested when the plane landed.

If she had made more of a fuss on the plane, she would have probably been arrested. I would have made a huge scene if somebody had pulled that kind of crap near me.

I think he was pulling something else.

Must have been in first class: coach seats don't give you enough room to, um, maneuver. Not that I would know about such things, I just heard some of the older guys talking about it.

I don't know how people can be part of the "mile high club" either. Bathrooms on airplanes are just to small.

The news article left out the part where the airline did anything to cause the passenger harm, whatever the heck that might be.

Unless she's Lady Godiva, he couldn't have been very discreet if he managed to glom up her hair, so somebody had to notice something. I would assume that this would be considered assault (isn't spitting considered an assault? Or is that battery?), so the airline could have prevented it, like by simply saying, 'hey, dude, zip it or grab a lap blanket', but didn't.

Even worse, in my mind, is allowing him to stay seated next to her (which wasn't even his seat, I thought people had to stay in their assigned seats) after he assaulted her.

I would think both of those things caused her harm that could have been prevented (the latter being mental, but possibly being worse than the first).

To me, the most surprising part of the story is that he had already left a deposit in her hair, but when she woke up, he was still going at it. That's true dedication.
