I didn't intend to offend anyone, and am kind of surprised by your response.
Anyway, I'm sorry to have offended you.
I was really just trying to have a little fun with sss, and figured that people would get that he was "sinning" in the eyes of those who often share his views, as evidenced by the number of comments along those lines by those who usually don't share his views.
Now I'm kind of curious if there's anybody else who was offended, though.

My guess is that not many people read your original post under its somewhat different thread name. I saw it late last night. I don't know that "offended" was the proper word for my response. I'd say I was closer to being "p*ssed off," as is sometimes my reaction when I think you've gone too far in an attempt to be clever or funny. My position is that so-called "boundaries of good taste" exist -- but they can sometimes be expanded into "edgy," which can be funny, and we're all adults here (except Annie, and she's mature for her age.) I stop being amused when things are pushed beyond the cusp and shoved over the edge.
I am amused when Pea raps your knuckles and makes you behave, though. Good for both of you!

I still am having a hard time seeing how my post was considered offensive or outside of the boundaries of good taste. Not saying it wasn't. I mean, if people are offended, that answers the question. That's why I deleted it.
I'll say one thing, though: Pea's suggestion that I was being disrespectful to people who pray is way off base.

I read your post.
I have to admit that when I see certain authors, I start reading a post with certain assumptions. For instance, silvercamaro articulates perfectly what I would have like to have said, TheConfessor will make dry comments that will be amusing on many levels, ulysses will make me laugh, etc. I also know that I shouldn't read posts by certain people because even if they aren't necessarily trying to be irritating, they irritate me.
I would never lump you in the latter group.
I was not offended because I assumed that you were making a satirical statement about some of the discussions that erupt on the bored. I enjoy reading your posts, but I also know that sometimes they cross the line of good taste, but this boundary crossing doesn't necessarily bother me because I think that I get why you do it.

I accept your apology and trust that you did not mean offense.
