WWTBAM Bored

Last night's show featured a bride--still in her wedding dress--who had just been married three hours earlier, if Jeff Foxworthy is to be believed. The groom and the entire wedding party were in the audience rooting for her, still in their wedding outfits. Well, the three-year-old ringbearer was there but looked as if he had had enough of all this nonsense, so he wasn't rooting. And he wasn't shown on camera after the introductions, IIRC, so maybe they let him go somewhere more interesting.

With gsabc worrying about getting The Call for a taping date right after BD's wedding, this sounds like a great idea! Shift the whole ceremony to Central Park, then have a procession of the wedding party right into the ABC studio!

However, the bride, who was an A+ student and is now a high school English teacher, could only get up to $50K. With her lifelines gone, she had no idea what continent the Danube river was on, so she had to walk away. So maybe playng a game show on the same day as your wedding isn't good for concentrating the mind.

And the next contestant, along with four of the five kids (WTG, Nathan!), got tripped up on a trick question and left with nothing.

Best part of the Wedding Edition: They frequently have one of the kids do a reaction shot about the contestant, after the game is over. This time, they let all three girls go on about how pretty the bride looked and how beautiful her dress was and how exciting it all was.

Then they let Cody speak.

"All the girls were so excited, and Nathan and I were like, 'Okaaay, big deal. Wedding dress... '"

Adult males would probably have the same reaction.

I saw this the other night and figured out that both contestants probably weren't picked for their intelligence-I bet they couldn't pass the test to get on Jeopardy!.

If you think having a new bride on 5th Grader is weird, wait until next week. According to the promo I saw, the contestant is a lady who is "eight months' pregnant". I bet the stress of taping a game show proved to be too much for her!

I bet not. I guess that makes them dumber than dirt!


Think about it, Kazoo. If the Jeopardy test were easy to pass, then there would be no respect given to the people who do pass. Smart people wouldn't bother to take it. We'd have jokes like "That blonde was so stupid she had to take nine Jeopardy tests in order to pass ten of 'em." Oh, and since everybody who showed up could pass the J! test, that show would have to move into the beauty-pageant, over-the-top-personality selection process for which most of the other shows are criticized. Ken Jennings would still be an unknown softwear engineer in Salt Lake City.
