Mom Update

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 9:19 pm

Well, Mom has been doing really well the last couple of days. Laughing, joking around, good mood, clear-headed. She's also gotten rid of the worst of the congestion. I haven't heard the latest from the doctors yet, but it is night and day from where she was over the weekend. Now I've read enough to know that quite often in a terminal situation the patient will have some good days like this along their journey, so I'm not getting TOO unrealistic about the overall situation (her lungs are still weakened beyond any real repair and will not become normal no matter how hard we wish it), but maybe she is even tougher than we thought, and will fool everyone by sticking around a few months longer than they thought. If not, and she takes another turn for the worse, we will be grateful for these joyous days of love and laughter that we are being given now.

That is wonderful news, no matter how long it lasts.

I'm very glad for the good days. I hope they continue for a long time.

Is always nice to hear that some prayers have been heard and answered affirmatively.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
