I thought spring was coming
We are currently under yet another "lake effect snow advisory" until midnight tomorrow. I'm sick of winter.
I hope we get warmer weather soon. Spring is SUPPOSED to start Wednesday.

It was 91 on the way home, at 6:00pm. Don't know what the actual high was. Summer is over rated.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

Went hiking yesterday. I think it hit 74. Wish I had worn shorts.

You still think that "four seasons" rule-of-thumb applies up here in the north?Kazoo65 wrote:I hope we get warmer weather soon. Spring is SUPPOSED to start Wednesday.
I've talked about the "six seasons" model, before. We're only if the third week of Unlocking.

I don't pay much attention to your game show grumbling, because lots of others do plenty of that around here. But your weather grumblings always puzzle the crap out of me. I get the feeling you're a lifelong, or at the very least longtime resident of Michigan. Why would you expect winter to not drag out through the month of April? Anyone who lives north of the Mason Dixon line should expect more cold days than warm days over the course of the year.....
I'm perfectly fine with this weather pattern. I hope we get some April snow for the first time since 1997....

It was 89 here yesterday. I think that's just about perfecto. Having grown up in WisCAHNsin it will be too soon if I had to live in snow again. We were shivering our wizened asses off when it was 45 degrees the last few weeks. We've become wusses.
Summer! Bring it on!

It's been nice here too but this coming weekend it's going to be in the 50s. You may cool off a lot too.Beebs52 wrote:It was 89 here yesterday. I think that's just about perfecto. Re: I thought spring was coming
We got 4 inches of snow today. The weather guy on TV showed the tempertature graph from today (it was in the 20s all day) versus last year when it was in the 80s. What a difference a year makes. He said we will see more spring-like weather "the second week of April". I hope he's right.

Re: I thought spring was coming
Checking the almanac, we've had exactly 8 days this year when the high temperature hit 60 degrees in the STL, and four of those days were in January. That number won't be increasing through the next 7 days according to the forercast either. Quite a dramatic (and in my opinion better) change from last year when March seemed like it was warmer than April and May... and definitely preferable to the 6 straight weeks of seemingly endless 100+ temps last summer....

Re: I thought spring was coming
I will just move into a big flippin' igloo whilst those of you who enjoy winter keep enjoying it. Those of us who live in the cold north often live here for other reasons besides "we love the weather".
Hot sticky summer weather doesn't do it for me either. I am an ideal candidate for "San Francisco-like climate", but we don't have a city offering that on the east coast. If you like rain, there are 2 more of them on the West Coast, Seattle & Portland.
SF & Seattle are very expensive. And what relatives I've got left don't live that far to the west.

http://notrickszone.com/2013/03/22/berl ... ps-europe/For example, Berlin’s online daily Tagesspiegel writes today:
Berlin freezes in 100-year winter.
Lots of snow and bitter cold until the end of March – Berlin hasn’t seen this in more than 100 years.”
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
