She noted the connection between pigs and garbage before using her ATA. :|

That connection had to be much more current in the 1930s than it is today.

Question 1 - Level 2. So Many Uses

Affecting more than just children's birthday parties, a 2012 shortage of what inert gas could make it more costly to cool MRI machines?

A: Nitrogen
B: Helium
C: Argon
D: Neon

Answer and value
B: Helium
Value: $5,000
Bank: $5,000

A non-trivial trivia question.

Question 2 - Level 3. That's Far

During an Ironman triathlon, competitors travel nearly 80 percent of the total 140.6 miles by doing what?

A: Cycling
B: Running
C: Swimming
D: Rowing

Answer and value
A: Cycling (2.4 miles swimming, 112

miles cycling, 26.2 miles running)
Value: $10,000
Bank: $15,000

Easy.

Question 3 - Level 6. Trashy Animals

A: Ravenous raven
B: Gaping shark
C: Vibrating goat
D: Electric pig

She goes with them.

Answer and value
D: Electric pig

Only one reasonable choice of the four.

Question 4 - Level 9. Popeye

Popeye the Sailor Man had four identical nephews named Pipeye, Poopeye, Peepeye & what?

A: Papeye
B: Pupeye
C: Plopeye
D: Punpeye

JTQ

Answer and value
B: Pupeye
Value: $100
Bank: $18,000

I would not trust either my recollection or the audience.

Question 5 - Level 1. Native Land

Populating an area near a famous natural wonder, the Niagagarega are a Native American tribe that lived in what is now what U.S. state?

A: Florida
B: Missouri
C: New York
D: New Mexico

Answer and value
C: New York
Value: $25,000
Bank: $43,000

The label "native land" is "fitting", as would be "home and native land". The two references I have put this descriptor on villages in Ontario. (the use of "native land" did make me look it up.....)

Commercial break.

Question 6 - Level 7. Top Tunes

Eric Church, Luke Bryan and Jake Owen all have songs in a popular album series called "Now That's What I call" what?

A: Metal
B: Hip-Hop
C: R&B
D: Country

JTQ

Answer and value
D: Country
Value: $1,000
Bank: $43,000

I might be tempted to ATA, although declamations such as "that's what I call" seem to be limited to a couple of forms of music, only one of which is on the list. I might be tempted also to buy a CD entitled, for example, "Now that's what I call minimalist opera", but I don't expect to see one.

Question 7 - Level 8. Medical School

Doctors often use "Go C3PO" to remember greenstick, open, complete, closed, comminuted, partial and other, the seven types of what?

A: Skin rashes
B: Muscle spasms
C: Bone fractures
D: Blood transfusions

Spoiler
She's thinking it's either muscle spasms or blood transfusion.

Surely you're not serious!!!
They don't teach at least some of this in elementary first aid for middle schoolers, and so on?>??????

She walks with half her bank.

Answer and value
C: Bone fractures
Value: $not revealed
Bank: $21,500 (half of $43,000)

Bring out the next contestant.

Do you think the question writers were quoting O Canada when they named the category of the Niagara question? I doubt they put that much thought into the category names.

One of your earlier posts implies that this verse of the French version of O Canada is no longer accurate:
As is thy arm ready to wield the sword,
So also is it ready to carry the cross.
...
Thy valour steeped in faith!

I'm assigning the importance to the category name, for me, and I'm using the adjective "fitting" in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

If I implied those lyrics are inaccurate, I was choosing my words poorly. (what else is new?). Those are the lyrics. But, militant Catholicism as a laudable, idealized and unifying thread of (French) Canadian history is gone.
