By a vote of 52% to 48%, physicist Bill Foster (D) defeated dairy dude Jim Oberweis (R) in Saturday's special election for Illinois' 14th U.S. House district. IL-14 had been reliably Republican for decades, especially the last 20 years, when it was held by former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert.
IL-14 includes the city of Dixon, which is Ronnie Reagan's birthplace.

Leaving no nit unpicked:
RWR was born in Tampico, IL. Dixon was his boyhood home.

I forgot to mention: Foster's win gives the DNC an extra delegate to the convention. Foster has already indicated that he is supporting Barack Obama, so score another superdelegate for him.
