New Job

#1 Post by mikehardware » Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:43 pm

Looks like I'll be getting a new job!

Currently, I'm doing test on a helicopter flight simulator. It's pretty cool, but after lots of tension, including the one-half percent pay raise last year, I started floating my resume.

Friday, I got an offer, with more than a 25 percent raise in salary! I get to stay put here in beautiful Huntsville, AL and I'll get an opportunity to travel a few times a year to some interesting places I've never been before.

Relief at last!

Great news, Mike!

Congratulations! More money is always nice, but it sounds as though you will also have more job satisfaction at your new job.

Thanks everyone! I'm not even sure how to categorize what it is I do - professional nerd probably isn't too inaccurate. The new job sounds pretty close to what I did for the International Space Station. I'll be basically double-checking a portion of a program for a small subcontractor working for the government. Are the developers following their plans? Are they doing things correctly? Is the system fully tested? Do the requirements make sense? I'll also help translate the issues from geek-speak into English for management. There's some travel for meetings and witnessing tests, but its likely to be less than what I'm doing now, more predictable, and lots more scenic.

Wow! I didn't even know that was possible!

:D

Congratulations! Sounds like an exciting change!
