Cutting the Apron Strings

Kids who are members of CSF, an honor society, have the opportunity to go to Knott's Berry Farm for a special event.

The event takes place from 7:00 to 1:00 a.m.

I am letting Maddie go with a group of friends, including a boy that Maddie thinks is "cute." I am choosing to think that they will probably spend the evening arguing with each other since he is a Republican who thinks that Hillary is the Antichrist and my daughter is even more Liberal than I am.

There's that saying opposites attract. Don't know how true or accurate that is. Maybe you'll be finding out. :) I do hope they have fun.

Ahhh, young love......Perhaps it'll be a reprise of The Way We Were.....cue the Charles Fox Singers and their rendition of the Marvin Hamlisch/Bergman&Bergman Oscar winner.....

Wow, you are brave. How will they get home? I don't know if I could do it unless I was there too. How old is your daughter? My daughter's 6th grade class is going to Medievil Times in two weeks and I gave my permission.

It could be another Mary Matalin - James Carville match! :)

Maddie's got a crush on a fast-talking, loud-mouthed, bald kid?

She is 14 1/2 and I will be bringing the children home. The mother who is taking the kids to Knotts and I are making everyone in the group call my cell phone and her cell phone before they are dropped off, so we have all of their numbers and we know that they have ours.

Thanks Dan.

I know that you witnessed what happened to Maddie's last crush...

We invited him, along with some of the other boys from the quiz bowl team, over for a game night. Not long after he finished eating, Jeff lured him into the dining room to play a game called Puerto Rico for many, many, many hours.

Maddie was furious. She came into the kitchen and said to me, "Mother, can't you control your husband? Why does he need to steal my friends to play games with..."

You mean two people that no one else of the opposite sex would ever find attractive?

That seem's pretty harsh!

What kind of game is Puerto Rico?

It's an economics/strategy game.

Here is a link to a descriptin of the game:

Here is a link to an online version of the game

Have you played Carcassonne? Of all of the games that Jeff plays, I like it the most.

There is an online version of the game. The girls' favorite trick to play on Jeff is to change his link from the game to the Hamsterdance website.

Why? Because you can't leave your house each day without being sprayed by an industrial sized can of pussy whip? ;) ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for the links. I haven't played either of those games, but I'll be glad to give them a try if I'm in the neighborhood. Then we won't have to disrupt Maddie's dates. Unless those games are multiplayer... 8)

:)

They are multiplayer games.

Maddie isn't allowed to date, she's allowed to hang out with groups.

So the whole group can play Carcassonne.

What's the problem? :P

I've heard good things about Carcassonne. Must check out the online version.

Anyone play Settlers of Catan? That one is fun, too.

Jeff plays that as well. I've played it a few times, but don't like how luck can sometimes be a huge factor in the game.

I believe that there is an online version of Settlers as well.
