Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Whew. Did not lose my mind again yet.

She got screwed. A lot of peeps say the "ing" sound like an "eeng" sound, however, she could have been pronouncing it very precisely with a very short i sound and the g falling closely behind. She was precise in her letter requests during gameplay, so she got hosed.
Well, then

Who ended up winning the game? If it was Renee then the only quibble would be the amount of money. If it was Amy then that's a different story. However I can't fault the WoF people - the same thing would have happened on J!

I can't be certain from the clip that she didn't say the g. That was my point.

I didn't hear the "g". And I think Renee understood what happened, although I don't think she liked the decision.

On Friday 12/21's episode, a contestant won $69300 in the maingame, without winning the bonus round, a new maingame record.

ABC World News just had a good story about this fiasco:

Here's a video of the WoF round:

Amy went on to win $45,000 in cash and prizes, including a Jeep Cherokee and a trip to Hawaii. This happens on J! all the time, but I've never seen it on WoF.

Renee is the third contestant in the last week (after Andy Pickens and Kristina White-Chagani on Millionaire) to be ensnared by seemingly easy questions about Xmas song lyrics.

I just watched this on my PVR last night and the minute she said it, I knew she was toast. The G was up there and she didn't say it.

It happened again! And this time, the contestant lost a chance at a million bucks!

Julian Batts, an Indiana University freshman, was lucky when the wheel landed on the tiny $1M wedge, and he was able to solve the puzzle: MYTHOLOGICAL HERO ACHILLES. But he lost his chance for big money when he mispronounced Achilles.

After a cool million slipped through his fingers, you know Julian wasn't a-chillin'.
