Dude, seriously. That was awesome. Since my show aired I've been misanthropically rooting for people to win less than me, but I wanted you to receive the ultimate reward for your style of play.

And major, major congrats on having the guts to stick with your plan. I know how much harder it is to play when you're actually standing up there, and to continue putting that much money on the line - that in itself is an awesome accomplishment. Great job.

Where did the CaptainObvious name come from?

I know it would have been nice to have the $100K, Shawn, but by golly I like that you stuck with the plan all the way through. And I thought your correction of Meredith every time she told you how much you had ("$25,000") was a good way not to get caught up in the atmosphere. Still no "delete" showing up on my screen. Although this post precedes my previous delete, I'm deleting it 2nd. Obviously. Same reason. Why not just edit post? Well, with that "jumpy" effect when I get to the end of very short window, its easier to just rewrite as a Word doc & paste in.

And when I looked, earlier, after the par-for-course-these-days "Server Error" msg, post hadn't posted. Neither of them. So I redid it. (See below)

Delete key currently not available; trying to delete post in which I (hypothetically, of course) use 3 JTQs. That happens when you don't get a window big enough to write in on a system you are not allowed to reconfigure.

The question doesn't say when this rule was first established, but I thought about photos I've seen of the British military, or depictions of them in movies (perhaps unwisely assuming historical accuracy) and I quickly decided that they didn't all show soldier wearing mustaches before 1916. For example, here's an image from the 1964 movie, Zulu:

Some mustaches in the ranks, but certainly not all, or even a majority.

So then I got stuck trying to decide between the other choices and ran out of time when Shawn made his choice. But that was really a ridiculous train of thought on my part. If the military ever even conceived of the need to pass such a restriction at the time, they certainly wouldn't have relaxed that restriction as early as 1916.

And now that I'm writing this, another memory comes to mind. IIRC, the advantages of being clean-shaven were related to the need for effective seals on gas masks, once gas began to be employed in the trenches...right around 1916!

True, it had ceased to be compulsory in the Army as early as 1916, when King's Regulations had permitted shaving the upper lip. Allegedly that change took place to accommodate the Prince of Wales, whose growth was less than manly.

D. Trevi Fountain
No idea, don't think audience will know; JTQ
Meredith says the Shawn told her during the break, he was going to go for the questions, that he wouldn’t walk.

I must have fast-forwarded through this comment, but it was clear from the way Shawn said "I have 25K" every time Meredith said ""you have (whatever)" that he was only considering 25K as his; the rest would depend on how he answered questions.
Question 6 - 7 Take a Break
If you’re a 9-5er you might dread which month as it has no federal holidays?
A. February
B. May
C. June
D. September
OK, I was thrown off by Shawn citing Flag Day in June, but I've never had a job where I got Flag Day off, & I have gotten federal holidays off in the those other three months; I'd not have heard the "Flag Day" comment if I was the one playing, so go for it.

Question 7 - 4 Hairy History
Reportedly seen as a “potent symbol of virility,” the British Army forbade its ranks from shaving any hair from where until 1916?
A. Upper lip
B. Legs
C. Chest
D. Back
A goofy, hideous question. I ruled out the areas soldiers customarily don’t show when in uniform, but still held my breath.
Question 9 – 3 Rooms with a View
Across the street from the Alamo is a hotel named what?
A. Thoreau Hotel
B. Douglass Hotel
C. Crockett Hotel
D. Barnum Hotel
Unless this is a big trick, there’s only 1 right answer; here’s where I should have memorized that “pre-randomized Q tree” to be sure it’s not a trick
Question 10 – 8 Online living
Which of the following “villes” is not the name of a popular social networking game found on Facebook?
A. CastleVille
B. FarmVille
C. CityVille
D. VegasVille
I don’t play any of these, but have read about FarmVille & CityVille. I’ve read too much about on-line “lifelike” games. Absolutely no attraction for me. VegasVille sounds really dumb even for this kind of game, but what do I know? ATA & hope they do.

100K
If you hate Shakespeare, you’d most likely appreciate what play, which at around 1,800 lines is his shortest?
A. Pericles
B. The Comedy of Errors
C. Timon of Athens
D. King John
Absolutely no idea which is shortest. JTQ as quickly as I can. I was terrified for Shawn when he went for it on what appeared to be a guess, & thrilled when he got it right.
$250K
As a child, which cast member of “Friends” had artwork exhibited at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art?
A. Matt LeBlanc
B. Jennifer Aniston
C. Lisa Kudrow
D. David Schwimmer
No idea. I’ve heard both Kudrow & Anniston interviewed on real-interview (as opposed to “Entertainment Tonight” type) shows & don’t remember this. But I’ve heard Kudrow interviewed more than Anniston, & think Terry Gross on Fresh Air would have at least brought it up.

I would leave with my $$ at this point. I do not have Shawn's courage.

I believed Shawn when he said that “Phoebe” popped up when he heard the Q; even though I couldn’t remember this from a Kudrow interview, I hoped that this was the kind of hunch that is right.

So sorry it wasn’t.
