We learned in grade school that the red and white striped barber pole is a visual from the blood running down the patient's arm. Except all the local barber poles also had blue in them. Oh well, barbers, final answer.

"Handschuh" is "gloves", "schnee" is "snow" and "werfer" is "throw", so that makes it simple.
