There is a book out right now about the 1925 Pottsville Maroons team that won the NFL championship, only to have it taken away by the league.

In 2003, there was a attempt to have the championship (or a co-championship with the Chicago Cardinals) recognized, but only the Eagles and Steelers supported it. There are indicatoins that the Bidwill family squashed the effort.

We heard NFL Hall of Famer Ray Didinger, author of The Ealges Encyclopedia, talk about the Pottstown Maroons.

Both The Boyfriend and I knew stories about the Maroons, which we heard from our fathers, but it was really interesting to hear Ray spin the entire tale.
