Tom was a really nice guy, and was the runaway winner for best wardrobe in the green room. (The yellow pants, believe it or not, were a lot less loud on TV than in person.) We had no idea about his having fractured his spine, which speaks to the totality of his recovery. Really, really sucks to watch someone you like get one wrong.

I might well have gone with "B" and gone home with the consolation prize. In my mind there's a TV program (possibly a holiday special) that features a beaver that talks with a whistling overlay to his voice. I can't remember what it is but that could have led me astray.
