I still have 2 lifelines remaining but I would have done just what Daniel did. I didn't realize that Cosmo had been around that long, plus all I can think of is the modern iteration after Helen Gurley Brown took over. Turns out that it was a family-oriented magazine that also published high-class fiction (including works by Bierce, Kipling, and Cather). The reporter hired to race against Bly was Elizabeth Bisland - she lost the race, finishing in 76.5 days.
