Miracles never cease to happen, and after giving up my title hopes for dead just 48 hours ago, a puff of life in my team combined with an epic collapse by Beeman's Roadkill have allowed me to advance to the BBBL championship round for just the fourth time in my 11 years in the league. Moon's Jordanheirs edged me out in 2003 for a second palce finish, The ever-whiny and winning SAB's of Tanstaafl whooped up on me in 2005 in a third place finish (I think Chad Cordero is still asleep in the Sherwood Stadium bleachers from that week), and in 2010 the upstart Rocks swooped in took the hardware while I again wound up in third.

This year, I face off with the SAB's, Jerr's Jabberwocks, and TiV's red hot Wreck for the ultimate prize in fantasy baseball.... and I'm not talking about the Joe Mays Trophy...

Sprots is so excited for me, that she agreed to don the squirrel costume I bought her and root on my Evil Squirrels as they go for their first ever BBBL championship! Join her, won't you, in cheering on everyone's favorite underdog! At least until my team plays itself out of contention again, probably by Sunday.....

Among the other 12 teams in the league, only Krox has a higher score than TiV (146) and that's because he got the benefit of Homer Bailey's 82 point no hitter Friday... meaning that my 81 points isn't really that bad in context of the rest of the league..... it's just that my opponents in the championship round are all having big weekends. This is unusual based on past seasons, incidentally, due to the fact that the better teams usually have more players on the contending teams, and they usually ease off the gas prior to the real playoffs. My luck that wouldn't happen this year....

We have been playing three simultaneous games per period now since the 2005 season. I'm sure another team has suffered the same fate at some point in that stretch, but it's the first time I've EVER faced the three highest scoring teams in the league at the same time. Unbelievable, and something that would only happen to me during the BBBL World Series....

I loaded my lineup with starting pitchers and healthy bats for the final series and just said fuck it. Let's throw it all up against the wall and see what sticks...

The Brewers, realizing my situation, have already yanked Gallardo from his final start. not wanting him to pitch in a "meaningless game". I still have David Huff and Andrew Werner to give me two final stinky starts before the long offseason....

Funny thing is, it's actually very possible I could "win" the final period since I'm in third, only 17 points behind TiV... though it's meaningless since those scores from the first half over the weekend have to be added in.... and as you can see, I'm still almost 100 points in the basement thanks to that hole I dug for myself....
