Is it just me--or is this way better than the Opening Ceremony--a great party/concert vice a jumbled up mess?
Eric Idle's part was AWESOME!!!Buffacuse wrote:Is it just me--or is this way better than the Opening Ceremony--a great party/concert vice a jumbled up mess?

everyone is entitled to their opinion, I preferred the Opening Ceremony. If you leave out the fact that the summer games entrance of the athletes essentially takes forever. Yeh, Mr. Boyle made the cultural references come thick and fast.Buffacuse wrote:Is it just me--or is this way better than the Opening Ceremony--a great party/concert vice a jumbled up mess?
So you'll stay up and watch all that so you can see The Who. (I didn't.)christie1111 wrote:Except it totally fizzled at the end. And WTF are they inserting a show they are promoting and the news before The Who is on?
They built up to a big cresendo with the music part, pulled it back down for the necessary ceremony part and then just barely started to ramp back up and ended with a teaser for the 12-12:35 am part.
Seriously?
I'm waiting for the first newspaper to run the obvious headline at the 2016 Rio games when describing an upset....Beebs52 wrote:I think Rio will be an "artistically interesting" games.
Winter in Rio is warmer than summer in most places. I doubt the beach volleyball girls will need their long sleeve uniforms again.SpacemanSpiff wrote:BTW -- I understand that the Rio games will start in August; isn't that still wintertime there?!?!
The average temperatures in Rio in August range from 66° to 78°.jarnon wrote:Winter in Rio is warmer than summer in most places. If they wear typical Brazilian beach wear, I'll be following that women's beach volleyball very, very closely next time.jarnon wrote:Winter in Rio is warmer than summer in most places. You shouldn't be disappointed.silverscreenselect wrote:If they wear typical Brazilian beach wear, I'll be following that women's beach volleyball very, very closely next time.jarnon wrote:Winter in Rio is warmer than summer in most places. Forbes this AM is already asking the question: "Is Animal Practice the Most Hated Show on Television?"christie1111 wrote:Except it totally fizzled at the end. And WTF are they inserting a show they are promoting and the news before The Who is on?

Animal Practice was horrible although I did laugh at throwing in Arbor Day with Columbus Day in negotiating days off. Through the whole show I knew the doctor's ex looked familiar, but I could not place her. Ah, JoAnna Garcia Swisher (MLB Nick) who was on the ABC show that didn't see season 2, Better With You.Buffacuse wrote:Forbes this AM is already asking the question: "Is Animal Practice the Most Hated Show on Television?"christie1111 wrote:Except it totally fizzled at the end. You gotta wonder what they were thinking--particularly since I didn't get anywhere near one solid laugh out of Animal Practice--if that was supposed to draw folks in--it didn't work.
Six weeks max and gonzo...

Tyler Labine I knew: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0479527/SpacemanSpiff wrote:She was best known for her role as the older (blonde) daughter in Reba.MarkBarrett wrote:Animal Practice was horrible although I did laugh at throwing in Arbor Day with Columbus Day in negotiating days off. I do remember reading somewhere that one columnists pointed out that this show had not one but two folks who are "serial killers" (that is, tend to be on short-lived series); Ms. Garcia Swisher is one of the two.
The best thing I've read about the show is that the monkey doctor was originally to be called Dr. Zaius, but they couldn't agree with Fox on how much to pay for using the name.
The critics haven't been kind to last night's episode/pilot. And the network needed to check with the ghost of Ted Bessell to see how well TV shows featuring non-human primates work out.
I dug up another 4-year-old post (sheesh!) because the winter nights in Rio are chillier than I thought. The beach volleyball girls have pulled out their uniforms (though the Americans are still wearing bikini bottoms).jarnon wrote:You shouldn't be disappointed.silverscreenselect wrote:If they wear typical Brazilian beach wear, I'll be following that women's beach volleyball very, very closely next time.jarnon wrote:Winter in Rio is warmer than summer in most places.
