Olympic Closing Ceremony
Is it just me--or is this way better than the Opening Ceremony--a great party/concert vice a jumbled up mess?

Except it totally fizzled at the end. And WTF are they inserting a show they are promoting and the news before The Who is on?
They built up to a big cresendo with the music part, pulled it back down for the necessary ceremony part and then just barely started to ramp back up and ended with a teaser for the 12-12:35 am part.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, I preferred the Opening Ceremony. If you leave out the fact that the summer games entrance of the athletes essentially takes forever. I am sick, I was bored, I was tired, I admit I set my tape (yeah it's still tape) then fell asleep & I find I didn't set it for long-enough. When I heard they were playing another promo for a show at the end, & since the stuff is on tape-delay anyway, having already happened, I figured they'd edit it so it would end at the, uh, end. I confirmed that by playing the gas-going-out of the Torch at what I thought was the end this morning.
And admit I was confused by the "we'll be back" stuff before the segue into the promoed program.
So I missed the Who.

You gotta wonder what they were thinking--particularly since I didn't get anywhere near one solid laugh out of Animal Practice--if that was supposed to draw folks in--it didn't work.

Animal Practice was horrible although I did laugh at throwing in Arbor Day with Columbus Day in negotiating days off. Through the whole show I knew the doctor's ex looked familiar, but I could not place her. I do remember reading somewhere that one columnists pointed out that this show had not one but two folks who are "serial killers" (that is, tend to be on short-lived series); Ms. Garcia Swisher is one of the two.
The best thing I've read about the show is that the monkey doctor was originally to be called Dr. Zaius, but they couldn't agree with Fox on how much to pay for using the name.
The critics haven't been kind to last night's episode/pilot. And the network needed to check with the ghost of Ted Bessell to see how well TV shows featuring non-human primates work out.

I dug up another 4-year-old post (sheesh!) because the winter nights in Rio are chillier than I thought.
