An elementary school student in Great Falls, MT, has won the National Geographic planetary mnemonic contest, designed to help remember the names of the 11 planets (including three "dwarf planets"). The winning entry was:
My Very Exciting Magic Carpet Just Sailed Under Nine Palace Elephants
"Carpet" is for Ceres, the largest of the asteroids.
"Palace" is for Pluto, downgraded to "dwarf" status.
"Elephants" is for Eris, the latest addition and another "dwarf".
This has the possibility of being a BAM question some day.
