Good news: Passed the test.

Bad news: No video interview.

Auditioning today at 5pm. Spent last 2 years floating in the contestant pool.

I tested on Wednesday because of a work conflict. I passed the test. Also, I received two interviews. Both went well. We'll see what happens.

Well, I made my annual attempt today (Tuesday). I just managed to pass the written test (fifteen of us did, from about 100). I had my questionnaire answers ready but asked for the blank sheets to fill out on site. This was a calculated decision, meant to inspire a reaction of "a couple of these answers are almost interesting; just imagine what he could come up with with time to prepare!" It also had the effect of delaying my interview from the beginning of the session to near the end. Last year, when I made it for the first time to the taped interview, I also interviewed near the end. I figured it might be as in figure skating, where it's supposed to be better to go late, because the judges hold back the high scores in order to "leave the door open" for the later contestants. On the other hand, maybe it's not so bad to go first, because maybe then they think "this guy may be the most (whatever it is that they look for) we're going to see all day; better give him a video interview just in case".

In any event, no video this time, although I thought it began promisingly enough when I made a reasonable, reasonably apposite joke as they took my picture. Just a little talk about a rather uninteresting portion of the questionnaire, and "wait a couple of weeks for the postcard".

I received a postcard yesterday. I felt really hopeful about a positive response. Is there a possibility that one can do "too well?" I know that I aced the test and I correctly answered my history questions on the taped interview. I felt very at ease during the taping. I have good human interest stories. I don't know what else I can do.

TPTB never explain what goes on behind closed doors during the casting process, so we can only speculate. IMHO, if they like what they see during the interview, no result on the written test can change that.

If they don't like what they see during the interview, no result on the written test can change that.

When do they usually announce the road auditions again? I've decided this year to hold off on going to NYC and just make the trip to one of the road locations since one might be close to Chicago. They did actually go to Chicago last year so I doubt they'll come again this year, but they might stop somewhere within driving distance like Indianapolis, KY, etc.

There no set schedule for the announcements. It will be sometime in the summer...or the fall.

As expected, sad card. May try one more time at the end of July or early August (I have a surgery on Thursday so I'm out of commission for awhile).

I thought goongas's post was just wishing you general good luck for your inevitable future audition. I didn't realize you'd already auditioned.

But I don't think Hell has frozen over quite yet. You've gotten this far before. In fact, back in the days before I was color-coding things, there was a time when there would have been green in your line. I'm waiting for blue before I officially change Hell's weather forecast. --Bob
