I feel vindicated after predicting this back in June when I actually saw this abomination.

It's not just a bad horror movie, it is one that makes you absolutely disgusted to watch it. To make matters worse, it is not content merely to be a grotesque dismemberment film; it makes a very poor attempt to add elements of psychological suspense and supernatural horror, none of which work at all.

This is not a "so bad it's campy fun" movie like Showgirls; this is a "so bad I want to take a shower as soon as I leave the theater" movie.

Although she is getting much of the blame for this, I don't think Lindsay Lohan did that badly. She didn't phone in a performance or go wildly over the top, which is what usually happens when actors find themselves in something they know is total garbage. Her judgment (or that of her agent) is poor (in many, many, many ways), but her acting ability and her performance aren't.

Eddie Murphy, on the other hand, who "won" worst actor, supporting actor and supporting actress for Norbit did deserve what he got for another of his over-the-top, obnoxiously grating performances.

SSS, I've been meaning to ask you, what is it about Eddie Murphy that you dislike so much? I've noticed a number of your posts take him to task for various things. Is there something specific or is just his acting? Just curious....

I can't answer for SSS, but with me, I find that most of the SNL alumni suffer from the same problem. They are much better when they aren't playing their SNL-type roles. Adam Sandler is much better when he isn't in an "Adam Sandler" movie, if you get my meaning. "The Wedding Singer" vs. "The Waterboy", for instance. Eddie Murphy - "Dreamgirls" vs. "Norbit". The only one who's gotten away with maintaining his SNL persona successfully IMO is Chevy Chase.

The fact that they CAN do better and find better roles, and deliberately choose not to, is the heart of my gripe.
