Well, yeah--I always shell out the extra buck for the Megaplier! Last two drawings I matched only the Megaball and won a whopping $14 total.

Nobody won it this time, though 39 people won the $250,000 second prize and a further 218 won $10,000. That's almost $12 million right there. Jackpot stands at $356 million annuitized, $255 million cash in your hands Wednesday morning. That's the highest amount of cash ever up for grabs in a lottery. (LINK) The highest the annuity has been was $390 for MegaMillions back in March 2007. I will be playing again on Tuesday. Best of luck to all.

That the highest jackpot ($256 M) ever can have an annuity value $34 M lower than the second-highest prize shows that.

God can rest easy now. Since I had an unexpected trip this morning, and had to stop for the (ahem) cheap $3.95 a gallon Missouri gas on the way back home, I decided to do something else unexpected and picked up some quick picks....

And if I don't win, He better send me my five bucks back. Or at least purge this stone the rest of the way.....

I beat the odds tonight. The chances of winning are 1 in 40. I bought 20 tickets and got one "winner." But it wasn't one of those minor $2 or $3 wins. I hit the Mega Ball and two other numbers, which earned me the princely sum of ten bucks. Not bad for a $20 investment. Better than Enron stock.

But I was just warming up for Friday's drawing. After no jackpot winner tonight, the pot is now expected to be $476 million. Now we're starting to talk about some real money. But still not enough to buy the Dodgers.

Still no winner.

New jackpot is $341 million cash value/$476 million annuity.

I can't believe that no one won the top prize. With all of the buzz about "the biggest jackpot ever" and the resulting increase in ticket sales, I figured that it was a foregone conclusion. But no. 47 people won $250,000 and 245 more won $10,000. Jackpot's now $476 million and a cash value of $341 million. Unbelievable. Of course, there's no guarantee that someone will win the next couple of times. It could go up to a billion before it's all over.

EDIT-I won $4 with my last set of numbers on Friday. Haven't checked Tuesday's. I'll try again on Friday night.

I had one number on the entire $5 strip....

Sadly, that's better than I usually do when I splurge on the stupid lottery....

She wants to have one winning ticket and have the other winner be a yahoo like Jack Whittaker who attracts all the attention by being stoopid with his money.

I doubt I'll be hitting up Quik Trip or any other lottery establishment in the next 3 days, so you all can have your $476 million. Though if someone wants to pay me $5 to buy some tickets, then you can use the even more highly scientific method of picking winning numbers by going with whatever isn't on any of my lines....
