I am at work for a couple of hours. I promised Boonie that.

He went into surgery at about 7:45 a.m. EST. He went into the surgery suite at that time, anyway. He needed to talk with the docs prior to surgery and they had to prep him, etc., so I'm not exactly sure when surgery started.

The surgery -- replacing six cervical disks with bone and putting little titanium hinges on his neck, front and back -- will take anywhere from eight to 12 hours.

I promised him I'd go to work for about four hours, so I wouldn't be sitting in the waiting room, just waiting.

About noon, I'll go home & feed Miss Denise, pick up his brother and head back to the hospital, where we will be joined by a dear friend of mine and one of my many Ferrante cousins.

I'll report back when I can.

Just think lovely thoughts.

And thanks in advance.

I hope you're giving him an oil can as a post-op present.

My best wishes to him.

Mine are particular lovely, by the way.

Good thoughts are headed toward Boonie. May his surgeon have a particularly brilliant day in the OR.

Hugs go to Melly and Denise, who have the long wait for good news.

Wow.

You can tell him for me that the reason I started growing my hair out again was after my surgery, my high school kids wanted to know if that was my lobotomy scar.

His should be even more impressive.

Thinking good thoughts for you all from southern Indiana.

Hugs and happy thoughts from CT.

I second the gift idea, but maybe some WD-40!
