I've friended some really popular "internet celebrities," and they got frozen out at 5000 friends. They had to wait for people to drop them, so they could add new friends. One guy would occasionally post the most offensive stuff he could think of, in order to get people to unfriend him, so he could add new blood. Funny guy, he was.

Like any question, it's easy if you know it. I have a friend named Bri Bagwell who has been working hard at becoming a successful country music star for the last few years. She added fans one by one until she reached her 5,000 friend limit.

So she started using a musician/band page, which does not limit the number of fans. She now has over 6,000 "fans" on that page (not "friends"), in addition to her previous personal page.

It's only aptly-named if you're familiar with a particular photo of one, which has apparently been copied a lot.

If you haven't seen the photo, the name doesn't suggest "miserable-looking" by itself. (And that photo is of a dead blobfish, out of its natural element. In the deep, its face may not be so frowny, after all!)

Hagfish was a distractor for me. It's also known as a slime eel and it might qualify as the most disgusting fish.

I think it is a misleading question because the "aptly-named" reference is entirely independent of of the "worl's mos miserable-looking fish" reference. If the darn thing does indeed look like the pictures of it, it is certainly "aptly-named,"because "blob" is the most obvious thing about it. And it certainly does look miserable. But I think most people reading this question (including Doug, including me) would assume that the "apt" name related to being "miserable-looking," and neither "blob" nor "butter" nor "saw" seems particularly "miserable-looking," but I think a "hag" would probably be pretty miserable-looking, and I would have gone with that.

Besides, it's not the blobbishness that makes the fish in the picture look miserable, I think it is the dead-fishishness that did it...

Blobfish: world's most 'miserable looking' marine animal facing exinction
The world's most miserable-looking fish is in danger of becoming extinct, according to scientists.

Scientists fear the blobfish, which can grow up to 12 inches, is in danger of being wiped out by over-fishing in its south eastern Australian habitat.

The fish, which lives at depths of up to 800m, is rarely seen by humans but it lives at the same depths as other ocean organisms, such as crabs and lobsters and other edible sea creatures.

As a result the fish, which is inedible, is being dragged up with other catches by trawler fishermen.

Marine expert Professor Callum Roberts, from University of York, said the blobfish had plenty to be miserable about.

Prof Roberts, who wrote the book "The Unnatural History of the Sea", said: "Blobfish are very vulnerable to being dragged up in these nets and from what we know this fish is only restricted to these waters.

"The Australian and New Zealand deep trawling fishing fleets are some of the most active in the world so if you are a blobfish then it is not a good place to be.

"A very large amount of the deep sea is under threat from bottom trawling which is one of the most destructive forms of fishing."

He added: "There are some deep water protected areas around sea mounts in the Southern Ocean but that is only really to protect coral and not the blobfish.

"We've been overfishing areas up to about 200m deep and now we have moved off those continental shelves and into the deep sea in areas a couple of thousand metres deep.

"In 2006 conservationists came very close to achieving a global moratorium on restricting bottom trawling on the high seas."

He continued: "They came within a whisker of that but Iceland rejected it so the United Nations was charged with protecting the deep sea species."

"If you add together all the area of the deep sea that has actually been looked at, then it is an area about the size of Paris, it's a really unexplored area, but we could be destroying it."
