I was reading an article in the LA Times about the show Lost.
They said that the creators/writers of the show are huge fans of Stephen King.
They suggested that people should look at a synopsis of the Stephen King short story The Langoliers for an insight into the show.

That would be consistent with the time-shift phenomenon we saw exhibited last week. Although the time shift is inconsistent. The phone calls are unaffected.

Going deep into the obscure for this newest not so subtle clue on Lost...
Why did it have to be VALIS*? Not sure I am up to trying to read that one again. Even the most accessible of Dick's work were a little bit out there. But that one is at the far extreme of the spectrum!
Next thing you know the cast of Lost is going to be chatting with "god" and/or aliens...

So, about last night's episode...
Now we know that whatever happened on the island not only has the "Oceanic Six" lying about the story, but that Kate has taken Aaron to raise as her own, while Claire is presumably still on the island?
And if Jack says that eight survived the crash, which two didn't survive the island, in this alibi version of events?
Since there's a fanbase that analyzes every frame of the show for hidden clues, here's one completely innocuous moment that I'm waiting to hear about. When they were drinking coffee out of those generic Dharma Project coffee mugs, Kate lifts hers up so that we see some writing on the bottom. Normally, that would be the usual "Made in China" marks, but the script writers must have something extra on this mug, don't you think?

There were quite a few things screwy about Kate's trial.
It has been floated on The Fuselage that the trial was a sham orchestrated either by Abaddon or Ben.

Not clear yet Claire survived and is still on the island or gets killed at some point. If she were still alive why would she have given the kid up? Whatever the story it apparently involves Jack and Kate (big surprise) if it is the main reason they aren't together.
As to the the two in the fake story of 8 crash survivors I suppose we will eventually find that out but no time soon I suspect. However if they are able to pull off their fake story that doesn't bode well for the new people who arrived on the freighter now does it?
Went back and checked the Tivo but couldn't read the bottom of the coffee mug. Will have to leave that one to the true fanatics with magnified screen shots.
But it might explain something from the final episode last season when Jack and Kate meet at the end of the runway and Jack tells her he wants to go back to the island. Kate says she has to leave because "he will be wondering where she is". At the time I assumed it was perhaps a "suger daddy" protecting her identity. Now we know she has resolved her legal troubles and the "he" may well be the kid.
Or not.

How can Aaron possibly be one of the Oceanic 6, as the preview teased? He wasn't even born yet at the time of the crash. There either is some explanation coming, or that's a major gaffe on the part of the producers.

Scifi.com reports that Lost is moving to 10PM, after Gray's Anatomy, for the remainder of the season.

He may not be counted among the six, but there are lots of details to their alibi we're still waiting to hear. Jack testified that they crashed into the water, but what island are they going to admit to washing up on, when it appears that The island is still a big mystery? Is their story going to mesh with the one about the plane allegedly being found in that ocean trench off the coast of Indonesia (with rational reason why a plane from Sydney to LA could go that far off course)?
And will that time warp thing somehow fix the problem of Aaron's apparent age, when they know Kate wasn't pregnant before the plane went down?

It's certainly possible that more than six (or eight) people get off the island. Ben got off but is maintaining a low profile, so some of the others like Sawyer might also have left and just not gone public with it. And since this new bunch of people obviously weren't on the plane, some or all of them could have left with Ben, Juliette, the crazy French woman and anyone else not actually one of the crash survivors.
It seems as if at some point the six (or eight) are going to build a raft or claim to have found an abandoned boat on shore and go out to sea some distance from the island where they can arrange to be found.

Nothing creepy so far regarding this that I've read, but obviously you were not the only one wondering..

Those "Lost" guys are something else. Kate's lawyer last night was played by an actor named Shawn Doyle, who played a character in the 2000 movie "Frequency" named.........Jack Shepard.
Oh, and Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet in "Lost" was also in that movie, playing "Julia".
Gotta love those little inside jokes.

Thanks for that link, T-Bone. Could I have actually caught something that the Lost writers
didn't mess around with? I mean, it really says "Made in China"!?
I found this picture in an eBay link with a nearly identical "Mainstays home" legend on the bottom. Looking closely, the Dharma mug just isn't oven safe.
