I'm not a sports fan, and the right answer came to me, too.

But the audience was too influenced by the modern "everybody gets a trophy for participating" outlook--the same one that has the APs talk about auditioners who "non-passed" the test instead of failing it.

But Lombardi wouldn't have gone in for any such word games.
