urgent prayer request

#1 Post by lilyvonschtupp26 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 8:12 pm

a friend of ours was shot at Northern Illinois University today. He dove in front of the gunman to block his girlfriend from gunfire. He was shot in the head and shoulder.

please keep him in your prayers. we're all a mess here, but I know you'll support our prayer network. I'll check in with you later to give you an update.

What an act of love on his part on Valentine's Day. It's so hard to understand why these things happen. I pray he'll be OK.

We've lost six students. Our friend isn't among them, but information is sketchy on how he's doing. My daughter's boyfriend played football on the line with this young man. A great joy to be around and infectious laugh. I've never had a worse night's sleep. The images just kept coming.

Keep the vibes coming please. It's going to be a long day.

A group of kids were at my house at Christmas and my hubby and I sat in the other room while they were at the kitchen table talking about their classes, what they were going to do and plans for the future. The energy washed over me and Jim's laugh got them all giggling. I'm trying to keep that feeling with me today as I go to work.

I thank you for all the support you all have given me over the past few years. I just want to scream ENOUGH.

Special prayers for your friend and the other victims.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Lily --

How awful!

A former sorority sister & her husband settled in DeKalb years ago. They both work at NIU.

A couple of us went out for a visit a couple of years ago and had a marvelous time. Lovely people, lovely town.

My prayers for all of their families, especially your friend's family.

I never know what to say in threads like this without sounding trite, but I feel guilty responding to the usual, frivolous threads without doing so here.

My thoughts are with you today, lily.

I was saddened to hear another student died overnight and was very worried that it was you friend. And the morning news described a student in the front row diving in front of his girlfriend. It was so chilling.

Please give us an update whenever possible.

Such senseless tragedies are so baffling.

Exactly the way I feel. Even when I don't post the sentiment, all requests get added to my list. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families, both the physically injured and the mentally injured. I can barely imagine the thoughts of parents who heard the news and couldn't get through to their children on campus because of jammed phone lines.

There are too many loons out there who think the resolution to their problems is to commit murder-suicide in the wrong order.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Hopeful thoughts headed that way...I was worried for you guys last night. I'd seen the post very late, and then heard the news that another victim had died in the night. So glad to hear that it wasn't your friend. I hope he is able to make a full recovery.

Great news.

Jimmy has been stabilized and is being moved to the local hospital near us. His girlfriend is still by his side. She's more than freaked but they can't separate them right now.

Our local high school is having major counseling sessions with all the kids. Even though I'm tired for a horrible night's sleep, I'm suddenly energized. I just feel for all the other parents who are suffering.
