You didn't know this trivia, Kathleen? That's okay, neither did I.

But wait a minute! "Dashing through the snow" and all of that--does any of that make sense as a holiday song for Easter or Halloween? Even in Minnesota?

She was aware of the four-minute mile as the famous baseline, but she doesn't do the math to work that out in miles per hour.

Delaware may have become the first state, but what's that got to do with what happened in 1639?

Yes, it was a pretty impressive run...

Not all that surprised the audience doesn't know jack about history either although I suppose Virginia is a pretty good distractor. Delaware, not so much. But I bet they all know their Kardashian trivia!

All she had to do is think of the verses - more likely to be snow on Thanksgiving than the other three holidays.

No idea. I'll ATA because this seems like the type of pop culture question they would know.

What about Valentine's Day? That would be #1, in some areas snow is rare before mid-December. Although in Minnesota one would expect snow in any of the four holidays.

I bet this wasn't worth $7,000 in the original unrandomized topic tree.

I woulda made the audience agonize with me through all this -- OK, I dunno what the mile record is, but it can't be much less than four minutes. So how many four minuteses are there in an hour. 60 divided by four is 15. And the record has to be less than four minutes because Jim Ryun set it a long time ago at 351.1. So slightly faster than 15 mph. C, final answer.

Nice nitpicks.

Taking the last point first, yes, it's possible for there to be snow in Minnesota on any of those four holidays (just as it snowed here, yesterday) but it's not exactly typical weather for Easter or Halloween, such that someone would use a sleigh ride as the setting for a holiday song about them. Thanksgiving is more likely.

Now, as for Valentine's Day, yes, it's even more likely to snow in mid-February than in late November. So for this choice we've actually got to think of the lyrics. Those, past the sleigh ride part, may be more difficult to remember, but do any of those you do remember sound like romantic verses for Valentine's Day? It'd have to be the worst Valentine's Day song, ever!

Which, I guess, would be a good reason to change it to a Christmas song.

It is likely to be dashing through the snow on Feb 14, for a romantic sleigh ride. What a wicked distractor!

I'm with SportsFan here... the math is easy! The famous 4-minute mile = 15 MPH. And 20MPH would be a 3-minute mile. Has the record come down that drastically since Roger Bannister? No, it is closer to 4 min than 3 min. C, final answer.

For those who have been there, does the pressure of the Hot Podium truly melt brain cells?
