THis question was the FJ! in game 3 of the quarter finals of the 2001 J! TofC, giving the date and asking for the sport in question, it was a triple stumper there too.

Logical enough. Spray the silly string around and it will drape over any unseen trip-wires without being heavy enough to trigger them.

Ouch. The audience is racking up some big durstings.

I don't recall the Ali v. Frazier fight, specifically, but these days big prize fights are show on pay-per-view or other limited venues that wouldn't get nearly that big an audience. The Olympics, on the other hand...

That fight was from 1974 and TV was a five channel universe back then for most people. By 1994 most people had at least a few dozen stations, and far more with satellite. And the latter was during the Olympics, as you said.

You're right that they didn't have all the cable/satellite channels, but I still don't think they broadcast this on one of the networks.

Okay, Wikipedia agrees with me.
Burt Lancaster served as a color commentator for the closed-circuit broadcast.

I do. All three of them. None of them were televised live. --Bob

ouch

I was torn between the boxing and the ice skating. They years tipped me toward ice skating, but I am not sure what I would have done.

Tough question made worse by the dursting. Didn't even think about the fact that the fight wouldn't have been on TV live. But the correct answer is a pretty sad commentary on the TV watching population! I guess that's why the Enquirer still sells and Jersey Shore is a "hit".

Of course the cast member might have avoided it all together if they hadn't burned a JTQ lifeline on the second question. I had never heard of this use before but what else could have possibly made sense?

I had two good reasons for not watching Nancy and Tonya at the Olympics that year: 1) I refused to give in to the hype for an event that we were practically ordered to watch, and 2) it would have meant having to watch figure skating.

I'd JTQ also. I could have ruled out "A" and "B" but not the others.

Ouch! I didn't think it would be boxing (A) or tennis (D), and basketball is usually more watched than figure skating. I guess the kneecapping incident brought enough hype to carry over to the Olympics.
