Yesterday I stayed home from work to take care of some household chores because my darling elwing was expecting to host a meeting of her church women's mission group. About 2PM she called me to say that the meeting had been canceled because of the threat of bad weather - a winter storm warning had been issued for the area (news that I missed because I was busy with the chores). Given the usual inability of our meterologists to predict such things with accuracy I figured it was another false alert - boy was I wrong! It started snowing about 4PM and by the time it was through we had around 5" on the ground, with ice on top of that. It took elwing almost two hours to get home, what with all the traffic snarls on the expressways, so it's a good thing that they did cancel the meeting. Today I'm at home because the snow was such that we couldn't get out of our subdivision - snowplows had cleared the main roads but that left big piles blocking the smaller streets. Eventually I'm sure they will take care of those, but in the meantime elwing and I are enjoying some time at home.

I am hoping that the snow keeps coming this way. It's supposed to turn to rain south of home, but home is around the break line between rain and ice/snow. My work is north, so commute would be awful.

I need the break, though. Either a cold or a major allergy attack woke me in the middle of last night, and I spent a couple hours downstairs (so as not to disturb GW) to blow my nose and wait for the chlorpheniramine to kick in. I'm burnt out today, and am still sneezing and honking my horn.

Your used weather is heading this way too. They don't know where the lines between snow/ice/rain will be yet, but our upstaters are going to get hit. I'm hoping we have just rain down here.

Yeah, we're supposed to get snow starting this afternoon, which may turn into a wintry mix overnight, but will turn back to snow by morning.

And why did Pea want to come back from Florida, yesterday?

Pea is obviously a masochist.
