As a matter of logic, it's possible (if you don't recognize the other words) that
Spoiler
Zod
was also a common term for the number sign. But as a historical matter, I'm pretty sure that the question-writers use this phrasing as a synonym for "Which of the following is a 'Superman' villain rather than a common term for the number sign?" Thus, once you recognize one of the terms as a villain's name, you're done. --Bob

I had to take the long way; don't know diddly about Superman, but I recognized the other three as terms for the number sign.

Question 5 - Level 7 - Pipe Hype

Now a catch-all phrase for any unrealistic hope, the term "pipe dream" originally referred to what type of pipe?

A: Tobacco B: Sewer
C: Opium D: Boiler
I probably would have guessed tobacco and been sent packing.
Question 6 - Level 8 - Bad Sign

Which of the following is a "Superman" villain, and not a common term for the number sign?

A: Zod B: Pound
C: Octothorpe D: Hash
If I hadn't gone out on the tobacco pipe, I would have gotten this one easily through process of elimination.
Though commonly known as "Beefeaters," what is the official name for the uniformed guards at the Tower of London?

A: Wardens of the Swan B: Gentleman Ushers
C: Pipers of the Sovereign D: Yeoman Warders
If I get this far -- not a sure thing on this stack -- I'm either gone on this one, or I use a JTQ if I have one left.
The first Apple Store to open in 2001 featured a floor-to-ceiling photograph of what two famous figures?

A: John Lennon & Yoko Ono B: Jackie and John F. Kennedy
C: Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig D: Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin
Gotta be John Lennon and Yoko Ono because of Apple Records. Do I take the guess? I dunno.

Either way, my logic was certainly faulty. Thanks, Uly.

No idea, so I'll ATA and hope they do. Interestingly, this was the correct response to last night's FJ! question.

We get notices from our security office all the time as to what the warning level is. No problem with this question.

From the comfort of my recliner (and a bit of knowledge about medieval times) I got the right answer. Had I been in Rich's place, and knowing that this was the toughest question in the unrandomized stack, I probably would have used my second JTQ.

Ironic that this question would come up with Steve Jobs' death in the news. Knowing about Apple the answer seems obvious.
