herjosie called it this past weekend:
The Large Beagle just won the Hound Group. What a great looking dog.
my sweet girl is perched on the arm of the couch, watching the action on the screen. It's pretty cute.
Not that I'm partial, or anything!

That's an outrage! Well, maybe that's an outrage. I didn't see it, because I fell into a nap, so I'm sure the beagle was a very nice dog. Still, the hounds are most important group, so they should be represented by a dog who's proud enough to put "hound" in his breed, not some comic strip dog.
Sincerely,
Annie Brownhound Camaro

A standard poodle always makes it to the final round. I never took a liking to their show grooming.

My dog was watching and seemed very attentive when the dogs were on the screen. I am surprised she did not bark at them though. I don't like the classic styling of the Maltese that will air tomorrow night, as well as the poodle.

We better pay close attention to which breed takes "Best in Show". Millionaire loves to ask that question.

As does NTN.

I've never thought that! I think that some dogs' moms dress them funny.
Although I've never known one of those beauty pageant dogs personally, I have considered that maybe they think of their old-fashioned haircuts as costumes -- the way I think of my birthday suit, a pumpkin costume for Halloween. My sister Tigger used to make fun of me when I wore that, but I like it. It's warm and comfortable, and it makes little kids smile. That means a lot to me, because some small children are afraid of tall dogs like me. Nobody ever got scared of a long-leggedy, brown-eyed girl dressed like a pumpkin.

Patty Hearst , yes that Patty Hearst, had her dog win "Best in Opposite Sex" which is (I really had to look this up), is the best dog of the opposite sex of the best in breed/variety winner.

"Best of Opposite Sex"
Which somehow sounds better to me than "Best in Opposite Sex".

Uno, the Big Beagle, also known as the 15" Beagle. He's a good looking young fellow. Number One Son wants one.

Loved the dog show. I have changed my avatar in honor of the Aussie in the finals. This pup may be ours later this week. We're going to meet her before Friday weather permitting. My son wants to name her Violet.

She's beautiful, Ducks. I do hope Violet gets to live with your family.

I missed the finals because I had a rehearsal, but I've caught up as best I can via the internet. I would have been rooting for the Weimeraner, because I thought he was beautiful, but I am always happy when the champion title goes to a breed that hasn't won before. I know that millions of beagle fans across the country were whooping and hollering for Uno.
Despite her snippy remarks of last night, Annie is happy that a hound won the whole thing.

I saw a picture of Uno and I can just imagine how soft his ears are. They look like brown velvet.

I don't know nothing 'bout birthing beagles, but Uno is from Austin, so I guess I should take a modicum of pride from that. I just wish the neighbor's two dogs would stop barking incessantly at 3:00 a.m. for no apparent reason. That's pretty much the extent of my involvement with dogs.

One of Uno's owners must be from Belleville down the road, because they broke in on the news when he won.
Someone better alert DaveSenior as to this year's winner....

Just so you'll know South Carolina is also claiming Uno, because he was trained here. Victory has many fathers.

Yay for she who may be named Violet!
MarleysSister has an Aussie. Molly is a very "active" dog, so I hope you can handle that.

What a cutie.
I think there should be a rule that your pets names have to start with I.
So they fit in and all.

No way! It's actually a bit of an accident that we have two I names already. Isaac was not on the list of boy names when we went to the hospital. He was supposed to be William Cotton or Aaron Mitchell or Henry Michael. He was born Isaac.
Ivy was always my favorite girl's name. David hated it. So our girl names going to the hospital were Hannah, Grace, Mia or Molly. They didn't fit. So we had three days of deliberation while I recovered in the hospital and we tried other names - we purposely avoided Ivy because of the alliteration. But it kept fitting her better. Ivy won the day.
I know it looks like it was planned, it was not.
And Daisy would feel left out if she was the only flower name..... ('

Much better point than mine.
I did assume the I thing was planned - my bad.
I love your children's names - I especially love it when you call your daughter Ivers.

Yay for MarleysSister! Does she have kids?
We are hoping our busy house will do much to keep the doggie engaged. They're not only physically busy, they need mental tasks to keep them entertained as well. We are hoping she and Isaac would wear themselves out together. He loves to play fetch with dogs and so we looked for an Aussie breeder because we knew Aussies before and their love of fetch. I need an intelligent dog because I am used to our Daisy who is basically a person. I can tell her what is happening and she knows what I am saying and complies. I don't really like baby puppy stage as they are so time consuming/unpredictable. I like them from about 6 months on when they begin to attempt to understand you. But spring and summer is the best time to have a new pup, so we think it's a good time. And Daisy just celebrated her 12th birthday on Monday -- we want her to help us train the new pup before she gets too old an crotchety.

Hey, I passed 100 posts!
Never thought that would happen.
Good morning!
