They don't usually put WWOQs in Level 6, but including Arizona as a distractor certainly was nasty. Or maybe there are reasons that people should be familiar with these three towns (population 1,158, 455, and 14,579, respectively, in the 2000 census, according to Wikipedia)?

I did have a hunch that I'd heard of Humble, Texas, but I couldn't recall where that hunch came from. After seeing its location on the map, I remembered that it's featured in Harry Turtledove's Settling Accounts tetralogy.

1.  ATA-I have no idea.2. easy.
3. It's not Neil Diamond, and that's the only one I can eliminate. JTQ 1.
4 Never heard about this, but it's an easy question to answer. Smurfs are blue.

5. I read this in a trivia book, so I knew the correct answer.

6. Can I 50/50? I'm torn between A and B-both in the western US. JTQ 2.

7. easy. My family spent a lot of summer vacations camping in various national parks when I was a kid (until 1979, when we bought a cottage.)

8. easy- I was screaming "B" at the TV. Where is the Unisphere, anyway?

David's banter as he analyzed each question was pretty funny - he might have a job as a standup comedian if teaching doesn't pan out. In this instance he joked about the problems associated with the other vehicles having a second steering wheel ("I can't catch the bad guy because my nightstick got caught on the second steering wheel", for instance).

His rationale for sleeping bag was wrong - he thought it had to do with it catching fire.

I was sure hoping he would walk away. I'm also surprised that he hadn't heard of the Unisphere, since it's there in NY (Flushing Meadows, actually).

Of course!

And the fact that Humble Oil had service stations in Oklahoma when I was growing up.

Question 1 – 5 Big Wheels
Which of these vehicles is often equipped with two steering wheels instead of one?
A. Police car
B. Ambulance
C. Garbage truck
D. School bus
I happened to pull up at my house a couple weeks ago just as the garbage truck emptied my garbage into the back of the truck -- garbage can and all. He had to hop out of the truck, climb into the back, and dig my garbage can out of the rubble. He said it happens sometimes -- those single person dumpers aren't foolproof.
Question 3 – 9 Tour Dates
What musician embarked on a Never Ending Tour on June 7, 1988 that has proceeded intermittently to the present day?
A. B.B. King
B. Willie Nelson
C. Bob Dylan
D. Neil Diamond
I would have guessed any of these except Neil Diamond -- just seems like the sort of thing they would do. JTQ.
Question 4 – 3 Movie Stunts
To promote the film “The Smurfs 3D,” the village of Juzcar, Spain agreed to let Sony Studios do what to it?
A. Rebuild it underwater
B. Paint it blue
C. Cover it with snow
D. Put a dome on it
I dunno how big it is, but B and D are the only two which make sense. Well, I guess a dome doesn't make sense for a village. B, final answer.
Question 5 – 2 Food Flood
Leaving a gingerbread-like scent for decades, about 2.3 million gallons of what substance flooded Boston’s North End in 1919?
A. Vinegar
B. Cream
C. Olive oil
D. Molasses
Only one of these could possibly leave a gingerbread-like fragrance.

Question 6 – 6 Odd Towns
Cut and Shoot, Stagecoach, and Humble are all names of towns in what U.S. state?
A. Arizona
B. Texas
C. Rhode Island
D. West Virginia

Arizona has some great town names -- Hope, Surprise, Show Low, Tombstone -- but none of them are here. Texas, final answer.
Question 7 – 1 Let’s Go Camping
Which of these camping equipment items is commonly labeled with a temperature rating?
A. Sleeping bag
B. Flashlight
C. Backpack
D. Jackknife
I moved my beautiful -10 Gander Mountain sleeping bag just this morning. No, I wasn't using it. It's not that cold. Yet.
Question 8 – 8 World’s Fair
Which of the following structures was not specifically built for a World’s Fair?
A. The Space Needle
B. The Gateway Arch
C. Eiffel Tower
D. The Unisphere
Sneaky question. "St. Louis World's Fair" might be in someone's consciousness, along with the location of the Gateway Arch.

Perhaps, but if you have even a rough idea of when their World's Fair was and when the Arch was built, you'd figure out that it couldn't have been built for that.

Or else the construction project was really, really late! :P

Say what? Can't ever recall seeing a garbage truck with 2 steering wheels (not that I look that often). A student driver car or something long like a mobile crane or a ladder engine firetruck were what comes to mind. But none of these do.

Boy, we have some major differences in what we find engaging and fun to watch... lol

Trying waaaaaaaay too hard to be entertaining, and it totally backfired to me. He went on way, way too long with his schtick on each question- and it seemed like Mere thought so too. His students either adore him or can't stand him, but I doubt if there's much middle ground. Why he guessed on the Q that blew his bank, when he expressed how much he needed it, and was doing it to bring home a just a bit more money for his wife, is beyond me, and was just a horrible decision - and for that i do feel a great deal of sympathy, as I think he's probably a really, really nice guy. Deeeepressing.

He struck me as a quasi-Seiinfeld or -Cosby. Perhaps it did go a little too long on some questions but overall I think he was exactly the kind of contestant TPTB are looking for.

I agree with you, Ear- that is very much what TPTB look for, and I think David knew it and was aiming to please - but way too hard. He seems like a sweetheart, but to me, he crossed that fine line between funny and annoying. Repeatedly. But I still felt horrible for him when he blew it.
