Celebrity Week - playing for the Alzheimer's Association
Anthony Anderson
Cast member on Law & Order
It's the final day of Celebrity Week and thus far the celebrities have raised $50,800 for Alzheimer's research. The organization was happy with that but they were thrilled with this [they run a clip of Anthony Anderson answering a question for $250,000]. He teared up backstage as he watched the clip. It's been emotional for him because of the work the association does and his personal connection. He has no lifelines remaining. Meredith asks if he will guess on the next question. "I may be foolish but I'm no fool," Anthony replies.
$500K - In 1911, what American writer pleaded guilty after he was arrested in Delaware for playing tennis on a Sunday?
A - Henry James
B - F. Scott Fitzgerald
C - Upton Sinclair
D - Theodore Dreiser
Anthony doesn't want to gamble with the association's money. He has a gut feeling but...Meredith interrupts to ask him if he'll say what it is.
"F. Scott Fitzgerald"
, he replies. But he will not take the chance with $225,000 in the line. So he's going to walk away.

Give Anthony credit - he's played a good game so far, even if he did have audience assistance on some of his questions. Going for $500K is no small accomplishment even with celebrity-level questions.

My first thought was Fitzgerald as well - it's the right time frame and seems the sort of aristocratic thing that Jay Gatsby might have done. However I still have two lifelines remaining, so I JTQ because I want to see the $1M question.

He's probably also made history as the first ever 'Millionaire' contestant to carryover through three consecutive episodes.
(Feel free to correct me if there was another somewhere else in the world.)

I really enjoyed this, even though it was a celebrity episode.
I don't know where in hell he got the pirate ship answer from; if he really wasn't aware any of the other contenders were pirates, as he implied when he said "Henry Morgan is a brand of liquor" (or something like that) then he was really winging it at a dangerous low level. But except for that need of audience assistance (not the official ATA kind, the "I perceive groaning" kind) at one point, he knew his other answers.

IIRC, there was another contestant on SyndieBAM who had that honor, a few years ago. Was that one of our BBs? 15QA, perhaps?

Not correct. As Marley vaguely recalled, our own 15QA aired on three separate episodes. --Bob
