..Mr. Sullivan told the band to play.
And a 6 1/2 year-old kid in his pj's had his little world rocked..literally.
February 9, 1964--the Beatles are introduced to America on the Ed Sullivan show.
Oh what a night.

Twelve years ago today, my sassy little baby was born.

And 5 days later, I was born. Coincidence? Or did they send my mom into labor?

No... I'm pretty sure that December 1963 was "Oh, What a Night".

Very nice! Happy birthday to Emma!
Any chance of trying out for Kids Week or Teen Week on "Jeopardy!" in the future?

I remember watching sitting in my red rocking chair. My older sister sat in her blue one.
I screamed just like the big girls did.
I had no idea why I was screaming.

I didn't scream, but I knew at that precise moment that I wanted to be like those guys.

I was 12. I thought they were terrible and had some of the most insipid lyrics I'd ever heard.
And happy birthday to another insightful 12-year-old.

Oh well. Just goes to show that anyone can be wrong at least once in their lives.

No, I still this those lyrics are insipid. Their later efforts were much better.

Those insipid lyrics didn't last long. Other than Dylan, who else was writing lyrics any more intelligent? And Dylan hadn't yet crossed over from folk to pop/rock. Anyway, I'll take those lyrics as long as they're attached to those wonderful melodies and harmonies. But to each his own.

Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes to Emma. I let her read your messages and she was touched.
She had a really nice birthday. She loved seeing Wicked again and we went out for Shabu Shabu at the Hollywood and Highland mall.
