Strongest Big Hair Products

#1 Post by Bixby17 » Wed Feb 06, 2008 11:14 am

Hey, what do you think are the best hair products out there to create big 80s hair? (my party is on Friday)

Back in the day, I used some sort of mousse and then followed up with hair spray.

Any thoughts?

Oh, this is my outfit for the party so far:

Black leather pants with black studded belt
Tiger striped tank
Acid washed jean jacket
Metallic bronze slouch boots
Fushia earrings with fushia guitar shaped handbag

I love second hand stores.

The husbands outfit is a little scarier.

Bright yellow slouch blazer
Jeans
Black and white striped vans
Either a white t-shirt or a polo shirt with the collar popped like vintage Mickelson

The blazer I got scared him.

Aqua Net works for me.

It's all his fault. That'll be $10.

When we go about adding the rec button, can we get one to rec an avatar as well?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

Oh, besides being a photographer, I had to learn to do make-up and hair......

If I think about it, it will show up as an avatar.

Despite uly's avatar to the contrary, you would think there would be some updated technology.

I think I used to use some sort of Sebastian products.

Pantene makes a super strong hairspray. I think it's called Texturized or something. I used it on Madeleine's hair for a costume party. You could have bounced quarters off of her head. Like Trent Lott. But it dint flake which is nice.

Your outfit sounds great. The metallic bronze slouch boots sound especially 80's.

Have a fun time!

I admit that I still rock the crazy Cure hair every so often for special occasions. Aqua Net still gets the job done for me, but I don't need to do much because my hair knows it is from NJ and I usually have to do things to keep it from being giant. Ironically, when I want crazy big hair, it usually refuses to cooperate.

In the "hardware" section, a crimping iron will give you lots of volume and a very 80's texture, but I don't know if you should buy one just for a one shot deal. (I used to use mine on the underlayers of my hair so it got big but I didn't look like I slept on a waffle iron).

And of course, the old classic blowdrying upside down and spraying upside down will get your hair bigger than a parade float.

Good luck!

Wow, did ladysoleil bring back memories when she talks about blowdrying hair.

Back in the college days (think early 70's) I actually blowdried my hair---everyday----believe it or not. One had to do that with shoulder length hair back then.

I think the "best avatar ever" would be a picture of you in shoulder length hair. :)

My oldest son was going to do 60's for Decades Day at school, but I talked him into 80's instead, and he got lots of compliments, especially fron the teachers. He has shoulder-length hair, and we put a hole in the ozone layer with a bunch of gel and hairspray and 30 minutes of blow-drying (he has a dryer and I don't!). I had forgotten about those ubiquitous bandanas, but he was more punk than New Wave with this big-shouldered leather jacket and tight black jeans. He wears Vans every day, so they should be real easy to find.

My hair doesn't "do" (too fine and straight), but I used to do the poufy bangs and big bow (kinda "Heathers" look), and we would keep a can of Aqua Net on the paper towel holder at work for elevation touch-ups.
