As great as last night's SB was, it jumped the shark the minute I heard that Twinkle Toes Seacrest was involved in the pre-show.

I didn't watch the preshow but the radio station that I listne to in the morning was totally dissing Seacreat.

The Terminator animations got really old, really fast.

Remember also that those ranking mostly apply to the U.S.

The UEFA Champions League Final (that's the European club soccer championship) last May drew an estimated 300 million live viewers around the world and probably many more on tape delay.

The last World Cup final was watched by 600 million people worldwide.

The Brazilian Grand Prix last year was watched by around 150 million people.

In fact, there is a good chance that the Super Bowl was not the most watched television program of the weekend. The Houston Rockets-Milwaukee Bucks basketball game was broadcast to an estimated 200 million people, mostly in China. The two centers in the game? Yao and Yi.

Oh, sure. Lots of people can watch the Super Bowl. Mostly in the middle of the night. You see an audience of 1 billion thrown around for the audience of the Super Bowl but that's the potential viewers. Most of the stuff I find says the actual viewing audience is closer to 140 million worldwide.

The numbers that I was giving were actual viewers for the other events.

That's exactly what I was getting at. The Super Bowl was broadcast to an estimated 300 million in the United States. Some chose not to watch...

I may have used misleading terminology on this one. "Broadcast to" in this case being actual viewers. The total potential audience for the NBA game was much, much higher since it was on tv stations and networks all over China.

It is believed that about 200 million people watched the basketball game between Houston and Milwaukee.
