Even had the Patriots managed to pull it out, they weren't the better team tonight. No idea what happened to the O-line of the Pats, or to Brady for that matter. Even when he had the time, he was off target more often than not.

Congrats to the Giants. Better play calling on both sides of the ball, better execution, better improvisation when it counted. That's how you win games.

Maybe now all the "greatest team of all-time" talk will go away.

Smart of the Giants to use the same defensive signals they used the last time they played the Pats, but with slightly different meanings. Really confused the Pat's o-line, and Brady.

Just goes to show that the Super Bowl is a much tougher game if you can't video the opposing team's walkthrough practice.

I'm wondering how long it will be before someone starts blaming Brady's shoulder or ankle for the loss. That should be a non-starter - the Giants' O-line deserves much credit for knocking him on his derriere frequently.

What happened to Brady was 5 sacks, 12 knockdowns vs 3 & 4 for Manning. You can't concentrate as well when you listen fore footsteps, no matter how good you are. The O-line - just outplayed.

I think this is overly simplistic. Brady did better this year because he had better (much better) receivers. But can anyone other than a Pats fan even name who the Pats receivers were over the past 7 years when they won 3 SBs?

This is a tangent, but I don't think Manning should be the MVP. Since no one defensive player stood out (other than maybe Matthews) I think it should have been Tyree. Had a TD catch & if he didn't make that spectacular catch, we would still have the greatest ever debate.

Hey! is right. I really don't know if they were the greatest team of all time--although many writers say they were--but, they did have the greatest season of all time. There has not been a Super Bowl winner since 1986 that the 85 Bears would not have destroyed....memories is all I gots.

I have to admit to some bias, having been a huge 49ers fan when I watched football. And, believe it or not, I had to attend a BABY SHOWER at this little old spinster's house during the Super Bowl of the 85 Bears! You know she had one tiny TV in that house and it wasn't on and it was a family obligation and AAAGGGHHHH!!! How could someone be so clueless, unless they wanted to make doubly sure no males would crash their little coffee klatsch?!?!

Emma thought so too.

Manning did have the throw after it looked like everyone had knocked him down, but he broke away, threw far and gained crucial yards, when his team desperately needed them, towards the end of the game.

I obviously don't know a lot about football, but I think that Manning was steady and reliable throughout the game. He had a lot of pressure on him, but he seemed to come through when he needed to. Plus, I think that he was a sentimental pick for many, since he older brother was MVP the year before.

I was disappointed that there was no Disneyland commercial. Don't they do those any more?

Lovely wife's paternal grandmother was losing it to say the least: one year during the SB, she stood up IN FRONT OF THE TV and started doing card tricks (at which she was very good). We politely asked her to wait until halftime at which time she had completely forgotten about her command performance. Grandma Opal. She played the piano by ear. "I can play Tiko Tiko and other classical pieces." RIP

I believe I would have enjoyed Grandma Opal immensely! Tiko Tiko is my kinda "classical" piece....

Justin Tuck stood out. He disrupted everything the whole game.

Tyree only caught 3 balls. On both of the plays you're describing, he did make spectacular plays, but I'd argue that on both of them, Eli made even more spectacular ones - a perfect thread-the-needle pass on the TD or Tyree wouldn't have had a chance, and that escape on the last-drive throw.

I'd have given it to Tuck, but I have no problem with Eli. He was the only other plausible choice.

I can't wait to hear from my Grandad and Uncle when they get back from Arizona. They both got their season tickets in the Yale Bowl season.
