The entire time I lived in Central NJ, I was the lone bastion of good taste in football. I wore my black and gold proud, and never hid my disliking of the Giants. I couldn't stand the arrogance of those guys.

Today, I found myself rooting for them, hard. It was a pretty twisted situation to be in, but I did it. I did it primarily because of my hatred of everything Tom Brady-ish. As arrogant as most Giants fans are (most, Snaxx and TiV, not ALL), they pale in comparison to Brady, Bellichick and the rest of the Pats.

If it couldn't be the Stillers, I'm just glad it wasn't those assholes.

I was pulling for the Giants. A perfect season didn't mean a thing to me. Eli came through when he had to. He's a quiet, unassuming young man. I was really glad to see them get the win.

You couldn't ask for a better game. It was really a great game to watch down to the last second.

The girls are I were watching. We started watching for the commercials, but then started watching for the game. (We were rooting for the Giants because we don't like Brady dumping his baby mama for the supermodel.) My girls and I were even screaming toward the end of the game, when the dude in the end zone caught the ball.

Anyway the coach of the Patriots seemed like a big fat baby, stomping off with his entourage, when the game wasn't even finished.

I let out a small cheer when the Giants scored the go ahead TD. My wife laughed that she likes watching me watch sports. I told her to imagine how I would have been reacting had it been the Cowboys.

I would have awakened my kids with the loud whooping and hollering.

PSM - I loved your astute comment about "the dude in the end zone caught the ball". Obviously, you guys were watching with the proper attitude!

I was at DD's Soon-To-Be-Intended's house with DD and a bunch of friends to watch on the big screen. Football fans in the living room, not-so-fans in the game room, food everywhere, and dogs romping from lap to yard and back again. The final touchdown elicited cheers and jumping around, which excited herjosie, herbrotherBo, and best-buddy-Jackson into barking and running laps through the house. It was a wonderful evening.

And our team won! "Our team" only because we have personal ties to two players on the Giants team. R.W. McQuarters is a Tulsa kid, a graduate of my middle school, and I've taught a nephew and a niece. He had a couple of good plays in today's game, so we got to cheer for him. Rookie Adam Koets is the son of a friend of mine in California. He didn't play today, but gets a ring anyway.

As far as Super Bowl upsets are concerned, this one is second only to the Jets/Colts.

Pea -- I'm with you on watching Payton watching Eli. We noticed that he was NOT mingling with the other folks in the party box, but kept himself a bit apart and focused on the game.

His reaction to the final touchdown was priceless -- genuinely thrilled for Little Brother!

One of the talking guys said that Eli asked big brother for advice and that big brother told him he didn't need any = that he was ready.

Kinda made me choke up and get all teary.

I am so proud of Eli.

I have me one happy, excited little boy! He had wanted to call his friends from the stadium, but my husband couldn't get service for two hours--every cell must have been overloaded. They got through to me about 20 minutes after the game ended. He got grief from his buddies for wearing a Giants shirt to school on Friday, but he sticks to his guns.

I made sure to wear the same clothes I wore when they beat the Packers (and I was wearing them when I had my big money win) and didn't watch the game until the last minute, just like the last time. So maybe my superstitions help me more than the team, but SOMEthing worked!

He had worn his blue shirt to school and his Manning jersey to the game. They weren't selling any Giants' championship shirts outside the stadium after the game (bet no one had any printed, just in case!), so they were going to get generic Super Bowl shirts. It will be in the 70's tomorrow, so he can PROUDLY wear any t-shirt he chooses without freezing!

One of the 12 year olds at my daughter's Bday tubing party declared she was rooting for the Patriots simply because "Tom Brady is gorgeous".

My oldest is Jordan Brady. Her soccer uniform # is 12.
My youngest is not named Brady. Her soccer uniform # is 88. (Kyle Brady).

Nonetheless, they rooted for the Giants.

Im particularly happy for Tom Coughlin, who was just about booted out of NYC 6 weeks ago. Also, Eli has taken every dart and barb from fans and talking heads all over the place. He deserves to milk every minute of his success for keeping the focus on the task at hand. We are very happy football fans today!

I've turned around on Coughlin, too, but I have to think it was more Coughlin turning around than me. I don't know about 6 weeks ago, but this time last year he was in serious danger of getting the boot, and nothing would have made me happier.

He always came across to me as a guy who was just a d*ck to his players, and one of the poorest-sport coaches I'd ever seen (I still think back to that 62-7 playoff game when he was with the Jags).

He saw the light and made major, major changes in the way he ran the team. I am very happy for him, and impressed that someone can manage such a dramatic turnaround after all these years.

Let's see... There was a spritz of rain about 11 AM local time when I arrived. I think they had to decide in advance, so they played it safe. It was warm inside. It was cool (50s dropping into the 40s) outside.

Hey Snaxx I will post here since you did in this thread--
Just a few observations:
Great game --- better than most Super Bowls -- on TV.
One thing we noticed is that the crowd seemed really into it -- MUCH more so than your typical, corporate crowd. Was that your opinion? Also, it seemed like Giants fans were noisier.

As I said in the earlier post, that Giants matched up better than most people realized. It is NOT the biggest upset ever (far from it) because by this point in the season, the teams were evenly matched. THe point spread was ridiculous.

The Giants did NOT play a perfect game and still won, which said something. They had 4 really bad errors:
The pass interefence penalty on Pierce in the end zone.
The interception (which cost them points)
The fumble and illegal batting of the ball (which cost them points).
The 12 men on the field.
Testement to their defense and Eli's last drive that they won!

Oh, and Jodin Sparks lip-synced the national anthem. We caught it on TiVo!

Did he really change...or did winning make people accept him?

I still have the image of him chewing out Tynes something fierce after he missed the second FG in the NFCCG.

Are you kidding? He is gleeful that he will be remembered for all-time.

I mean, it now is known as "The Tiki Theory" rather than "The Ewing Theory."
