I feel so guilty, hijacking Bob's audition list thread.

I got a picture of Alec Baldwin from Wintergreen, Inc. His recent commercials are a guilty pleasure of mine....

Millionaire is now offering open calls instead of having to fill out an application for an appointment.
OPEN AUDITIONS IN NEW YORK CITY WEEK OF JUNE 27TH
Open Auditions are taking place in New York City the week of June 27th, Monday-Thursday from 5pm to 7pm. The last session starts at 7pm. Registration for these dates is not required.
Please note that Audition space is limited. Admission to the audition session(s) is not guaranteed to everyone who arrives at the audition site.
So basically it's whoever wants to audition can show up and take the test as long as there's room for that week. There's also a link to download the application so you can have it filled out ahead of time (Fill it out before the audition. It's better doing it now compared to frantically filling out the anecdote page in a panic so you don't keep the AP's waiting.)

Only difference between my application a couple weeks ago and the one they posted now is question 9. I'd like to see how Marley would word his answer :P
9. Have you previously auditioned to be a contestant on Millionaire? If so, when was the date of
your last audition? And how many times have you auditioned to be a contestant in the past?

Oh, boy! More opportunities for WE/WEs! (Not so advantageous for anyone who might go through a lot of effort to travel from elsewhere, only to find all the spaces filled, that day.)

What??? Have they hired some new APs who wouldn't remember me? :P

My audition count stands at 22, IIRC. And my last audition was in the fall of 2008. I don't recall the exact date, but it's probably archived in that year's audition list.

I don't know about We/Wes, probably more for the out of towners on vacation who happen to stumble into the audition (and they came in on a lark ). But unless you're specifically looking for the audition site, it's kind've hidden in the middle of the block that doesn't have any attractions. Maybe they'll put a big sign out in the middle of the street lol.

Hi all, long time no visit!

I'm trying again (sad postcard after video audition in 2009, then Jeopardy last year). Confirmed for 6/17 (in NYC to visit my mother), and if I fail the test I can try to get in the open audition on 6/27. We have to go back for my husband to audition for Jeopardy, hurray! Maybe we will have a J! champion in the family after all. :D

Today at 6:30...Had an unexpected afternoon and evening off and went to the website to see about auditions -they had today as an option so I put that in as choice one...lo and behold 30 minutes later I'm confirmed for 6:30. I have passed this darn thing5 or 6 times always with the sad card result...let's see if this year is any different.

Passed the test. Mini interview. Nothing on tape - couldn't tell if anyone was getting taped as I didn't see them send anyone off in the direction that they sent me last year for the video audition. Either they liked me less than they did last year or they aren't doing them any more - either is possible! Opportunity to be considered for "special weeks" of shows if you are a college or grad student - you could note that on your answer sheet and if you are single (I am!) you could put that - they're planning a matchmaking kind of week for valentines week...pairing singles up and having them play as a team.

Boo hoo, didn't pass. I thought it was much more difficult than last fall. I know of 6 that I definitely missed. I did see one question that I have gotten while playing the Facebook game on the test. Not sure if/when I will try again. Not sure how many people took the test but about 6 passed.

I'm sorry, Rainbow. I know you're feeling down right now, but wait a bit and try again when it's convenient. Lots of people have non-passed the test one or more times, but eventually made it to the hot seat. I will hope for the same outcome for you.

Thanks! I passed last time but didn't make it to a taped interview. I'm sure I'll get the bug to go back especially since I live in NJ and it's convenient. In fact, the WWTBAM staff told the losers that they could come back tomorrow if they wanted. They also asked anyone who was accompanying a test taker if they wanted to take the test too. So, I'm guessing you really don't need an appointment. This time I got a magnet and a pencil. No magnet last time! :)

Sorry about that :(

The crowd at my test was sparse - no more than 40 people total and about 8 passed. Was surprised thatI got a same day audition slot but after seeing the turnout yesterday and hearing from rainbow not as surprised.Get thee to an audition - they obviously are looking for bodies!

I wonder if the push for auditioners in New York means the road auditions may be few and far between.

Checked the mail today, no card. I'm starting to think they're going to make people wait 3 weeks (which for me will be this upcoming Tuesday). The good news is if I don't get it by week 4 (the 28th), I do have an email I can send a letter to asking whats up since they canceled the May 30th audition and an AP emailed me asking if I wanted to change my appointment. I don't know if to take this as a good or bad thing since some have said they're pushing more for auditioners so it could mean they're going to give more people happy cards due to lack of supply or they haven't found as many good people and are still trying.

I think if they can't get any good NYCers they will do more road auditions or more multiple day road auditions at the big cities (LA, Chicago, Dallas, etc)

Passed the test (it seemed harder than 2009). I thought I did well in the interview--the PA (very nice young man) laughed a lot. But no video interview, and he immediately called over the next person so it's not like he was writing down notes or anything. He asked whether I'd auditioned before, so I wonder if that's automatic points off. I'm kicking myself because I should have said "not last year, since I was on Jeopardy"--in case that would have made a difference (maybe not). I'm assuming I'll get a sad postcard. Rats. I'll try again next year if I have a chance. Good luck to everyone else!
