Maybe it's a regional thing, because I'd always heard that.

We have pictures of my cousin Dennis and me at the Philadelphia Zoo. Maybe 2YO, holding buttercups under each other's chins.

Panicked with the whole, "can't go out on the first question" issue but as soon as I asked to take the lifeline, the OMG, of course answer hit me. Almost shouted out to take back the lifeline, but didn't want to cause a scene. Or it might have been half-a-second too late.

HS stands for Hot Seat, used when the contestant sat across from the host rather than standing at what to me resembles an ironing board.

I don't know if there is an actual list - it's been discussed and if it exists it's under the "WWTBAM Bored Reference Thread".

The way I learned it, the podium is what a person stands on. The lectern holds the speaker's notes. I do see on a quick Internet search that at least one source permits the usage of podium as a synonym for lectern, but I'm not yet convinced it's correct. --Bob
