In the interests of expanding my musical knowledge beyond my usual limited tastes, I watched.

Ummm. Okay, then.

Is there a name for the jeweled studs she's wearing on her upper lip and at the corner of her eyes? I hope they're attached by glue or something, and aren't piercings!

It was harder to answer this question without any context for the quotation. Was Picasso simply giving a dry observation or making a pun ("sense" = "scents")? If the latter, was he speaking in English or in another language where the pun might not work?

We could have used a couple investigating Bernie Madoff and a whole bunch more at the Wall Street banks before their big meltdown.

It wasn't a pun. I can't give you the exact context in which Picasso spoke of Chanel, but I believe it was a straightforward compliment. She built a successful business in a time and a society when that was considered impossible for any female. Furthermore, she was the first person of fashion who brought "comfort" to women's clothing instead of cinched corsets and petticoats for all activities. She introduced both slacks and sensible (if stylish) shoes to women who prided themselves on being well-dressed. (That is not to say that working-class women hadn't found comfort -- out of necessity -- long before, but Chanel made it acceptable in the elite salons of Paris.)
